I remember that KJZZ wasn't that good of a station before. What are they going to do now that the only reason for existing is gone? Run USU/HS football all day long?

No cable no Jazz

Now those of us who do not have cable or satelite cannot see any of the jazz games. I hope the are making alot of money on this deal.

aggie

USU has already run they are on cw 30

Re: No cable no Jazz

I hear where your coming from...but cable or the dish is the only way to go anymore. So much programming(not just sports)is going that way in the future. I'm sure most of the other teams in the league do something similar, so it's not just the Jazz.

Re: No cable no jazz

I agree. It may make sense financially, but viewership will go down. Too bad. I guess I am stuck listening to that liberal Stanford yuppy try to fill Hot Rod's shoes. Can't watch on KJZZ, don't have cable, can't stand the new radio voice. Good bye Jazz...

K-UHSSA

Please Rename KJZZ...It no longer fits!

JAZZY

Thats terrible for those of us that don't have cable, I guess I am going to enjoy David Locke on the radio if KJZZ won't cover anyway GO JAZZ!!!

Yay for HD!

It's great that they are saying that all FSN Jazz games will now be televised in HD. However, I have Comcast and I seem to remember that anytime FSN said the games were supposed to be in HD, they were not! - it just seemed like standard def.

Did anyone else with Comcast experience that?

sportsless...

Can't watch BYU, can't watch the Jazz, can't watch the ewets, guess I'll have to watch the Aggies!

To Yay for HD!

The FSN-HD games were kind of hard to find on Comcast. They often announced a separate channel to tune into.

Take note BYU and Utah Presidents! This is how you work a TV deal. Sign with a big-time channel that's guaranteed national on all major carriers, and do so when all of that is in place BEFORE you sign! Genius, no?

Ouch

That really hurts the fans that don't have cable. I guess making an extra buck means more than helping many of the fans that have long followed the team. Maybe they should change KJZZ name since it no longer supports the Jazz!

BTW, most of the country does not get Fox Sports "Rocky Mountain" unless they live in Utah and parts of Idaho etc. Or subscribe to the $100 HD top sports tier on DirectTV.

Man I am sick of hearing all the cheapskates whine about not getting the Jazz games. If you cant afford 39.99 for Direct Tv's basic package you have bigger problems then watching the Utah Jazz.

Re: Anonymous

FSN-Utah is not national. It's local. Did you read the article? It does not cover outside the Jazz "area". I'm not a Jazz fan, but I would tune in to watch a few games a year just because I like watch basketball. I do have Dishnetwork, but do not subscribe to a package that has FSN-Utah, so no more Jazz for me. The Jazz just killed their casual fan viewership.

dang!

well,I guess I won't Be watching them Jazz this year. Cable/dish is to expensive for me and my family in this tight economy. I am not going to pay $30-$60 for 150 channels when I watch one or two.

Signs of an Empire

cracking. With today's economy and the passing of Larry H. Miller I don't believe Gregg has the mind to hold this empire together and I believe this is one of the cracks which will further weaken it. It's all about trying to find money to stay alive. It won't be long and KJZZ will no longer be a part of the LHM group of companies and I would throw the theaters in the deal too. It's going to shrink rapidly.

It will be "pay to play" because they need all the money they can get to float the Group of companies. Pony up or go away.

Larry had many ways to use his own money. He owned the JAZZ, KJZZ and lots of other entertainment entities. The entities pay for advertising on KJZZ which is the same pocket. Essentially his marketing exposure was free.

It will be interesting to see how many advertising dollars are spent between LHM Group and FSN. Every dollar spent has much less return back to the LMH Group because the LHM Group in now funding another corporate mouth.

Larry was genius!

Concerned

I hope FSN does a better job of getting the games on the air than they did last year. There were many games they were supposed to show that coverage didn't start until after half time or not at all. Or was that Direct TV getting even with the Jazz for haggling over the new contract. If they are moving it around on different channels they had better find a way to let people know. It was pretty frustrating last season trying to find the game, or when you found the channel on Direct TV where it was supposed to be there was no coverage or the coverage didn't start when the game did!!!

Andrew

No BYU, no Utah and now no Jazz viewing. Great. Wow my interest in sports dwindles each year. Another nail in the coffin. My children will never have the same experiences living and dying for the local sports teams that I had growing up. Well that is probably for the best. Now they can concentrate more on schoolwork and more reedeming social skills.

Boise

This is a good deal for the Jazz fans in Boise, because now we can see every game! Two years ago, they mostly had Sonics games, but starting last year the Jazz took over. This deal is great!

PurplePeopleEater

At least I can now watch the Jazz in HD all the time, instead of temporarily hooking up an outside antenna to my receiver when then were on Ch 14. I'm happy.

Sorry poor people, but progress is progress.
