"Many of Pratt's former students have come forward since his arrest to express their admiration for him and to pledge their support for him regardless of the outcome of his case."
What do the students at LP have going on in their heads?
I wonder if he sang the same song to his wife?
Classy guy.
I'm on of Brother Pratt's former students (Viewmont H.S.) and although I won't judge him, I don't "support him regardless of the outcome of this case". If he's found innocent, great. I'll feel bad he was put through this. If he's guilty, I hope he gets locked up for a long time to thing about what he did. I would have never suspected he would do something like this but you never know what people are capable of.
I didn't realize that one of his many talents was music. What a beautiful love song.
I wonder how his wife and kids are doing? I sure do feel sorry for them, because they are also this Pratt guys victims.
First two lines of song are from Miss Siagon.
My heart goes out to his wife and family. I sincerely hope they are able to get through all this and that those who know them do all they can to comfort them.
Since when are seminary principals authorized to sign students out of school? Does no one see this as a security issue? (-whatever else it might be) As a parent, I'd consider that school system to be courting a law suite if ANYBODY were signing out my kid out without my written consent. -even for legitimate reasons. Something...or many things do not add up here
Many of the prior comments ask how this could have happened. The answer is that this seminary principal obviously accepted the message of modern society that the only thing that is important in life is immediate self-gratification, without regard to the consequences. Modern society has objectified women, and even teenage girls. There was a time in this Country when principals and teachers would never have even dreamed of attempting sexual relations with students. Apparently, that time has passed.
I cannot begin to imagine the heartache his wife is feeling as these things are coming to light in court. His job and career are over. She has to worry now about how to support her kids while he is in prison. I hope she knows many people are feeling compassion for her and not being judgmental. I hope she can soon figure out what is the best thing for her kids and can make it happen.
Where are all the defenders and admirers now from the hundreds of posts from articles past? The bubble has burst.
If this guy really did these things, he's compounded the damage he's caused by fighting the charges and putting this victim through even more than he's already done. He better be innocent, because if he's just trying to save face at the cost of inflicting more damage, I hope they send him off to prison for a very long time. If he really is guilty, he should just plead and get on with the sentence and show some mercy on the girl.
So many comments about concern for his wife and children and yes, I am concerned for them too... Also, how about this girl who now must sort through the tangled web spun by an adult....And how about his other students... So many lives changed by an adult who knew what much better the consequences of actions and still made the choices he did. The video alone shocks me. Wow.
Vegas or Africa? She laughed and showed humor? Can we hear some testimony from the guy who discovered them and get some phone records? How about testimony from the school clerk who saw him sign her out.
Let's here from Pratt before passing ANY judgement. A man is INNOCENT until proven guilty. I haven't heard Pratt's confession or explanation yet - have you? I did hear Pratt say that once the evidence was made known things would be clear. Not sure what that means but I am sure willing to WAIT to hear it BEFORE passing judgement. This 17 year old could be telling the complete truth ... or ... a complete lie. We just don't know yet.
If the actions have transpired as described, the judgments of the laws of this land will dictate that a horrible crime has been committed & place judgments accordingly. This will effect the lives of so many for years to come.
Many lives are changed and effected in many different ways by the poor choices of this man: individuals: young & old, family & friends, students, faculty & schools, communities and beyond.
It is unfortunate that this situation has occurred. Especially from one in a leadership position to make these choices, that effect the lives of not just one, but so many untold more. The ripple effect of these poor actions will cause the need of healing for many.
Be alert to the actions of others, reach out to those in need, be observant in your surroundings, be supportive to those in your immediate influence and influence for good.
Challenges and difficult circumstances will always come in our lives or the lives of those around us. Let us be compassionate and act with wisdom in making correct choices, decisions and/or judgments.
I agree with 'Judge Not.' We have not heard from Mr Pratt yet. Hopefully the truth will come out soon and everyone can put this behind them. I will say, on the local news tonight Mr Pratt was shown at the courthouse with his wife, and they were holding hands. She did look very uncomfortable, but nonetheless, she was there with him.
From this article, I am beginning to think that the girl does have issues. Why would she be 'laughing and showing humor' at a time like this. If all this really happened, she needs to be serious. Another similar case in Salt Lake City was dismissed because the girl cracked in court and admitted she had made up the entire case. For her sake, I hope this girl is telling the truth, or she has cried 'Wolf' at the wrong time.
Also, to 'Musical Talent at 7:11 pm,'~ what does it matter if he has musical talent? No one cares!!
I know first hand that a seminary principal can not sign a participant out of EFY. Only their parents can come and get them, and they have to check out with a building counselor or coordinator... there is no exception to this rule!
