4A Boys... | 6:16 a.m. Oct. 20, 2009
They are off on this one. Pineview wins the 4A Boys title. Any team that can win the Murray Invitational has to have the upperhand at state!

It's going to be a fun day at Sugar House! good luck to all runners and thank you DesNews for covering one of the greatest athletic events in high school sports!! The girls picks are easy: 5A American Fork. Way talented. 4A Mountain View. also loaded. 3A Park City unbeatable. 2A San Juan in a landslide. 1A St. Joseph
Look for San Juan's boys to also bring home the gold.

Having watched numerous races this past fall, there is one question concerning cross country that begs asking. Why run? There are few sports that are as grueling if the runner is really competing. For 16 - 20 minutes, there are no timeouts, no stop in play, no quarter breaks or half times. Once that gun goes off, the runner runs...and runs... and when the legs are tightening up, when lungs are burning, when the body tells the brain that it is done, the brain sez, "No you are not!" They know why they run!
I so admire these young men and women who participate in a sport void of recognition or limelight. The mental toughness that comes from being a cross-country runner should serve them well in many endeavors.
That being said, the Three "A"migos (Ryan, Benjamin, Colten) and the Special "K's" (Kyle, Kyler, Kelton, and Keldon) will outrun St. Joseph and others to capture their 2nd consecutive State title. The "AK 4 in the top 7's" do have depth galore and are a faster team this year. They will repeat! The real question is how many of them will be in the top ten?

It's a shame that Running gets so little news coverage when so many of our youth are involved & working so hard. Also, a little more research in this article would be nice instead of just looking at who finished in the top at last year's State Meet. C'mon writers... you can do better!

I had never been to a meet before this year. My girl started to run for her middle school team so I went to watch. This is truly a great sport. Good luck to all this week.

Region 8 | 3:07 p.m. Oct. 20, 2009
had a good region meet i will look forward to seeing the duel between Maple Mt. and Springvilles boys, if Springvilles top 2 beat MMs top guy again it could be huge in the team scoring with springville on top. I predict A Mt. view win this year. they preform great at state every year regarless of what they ran like early in the season.

Canyon View is as strong a team as anyone in the state! Cedar is very impressive. What a compliment to the community!

Don't rule Davis out in either race. Petty is running as strong as he ever has. No one will touch Hedquist. I am feeling a major sweep by the Darts. DAVIS PRIDE!!!!!!!!!!
