Great performance Max. Let's hope you can put up the same type of stats this next saturday.
Congrats Maxie. Soak it up because your party is about to be crashed Saturday by the Horned Frogs. Your alter ego, Max "here's the ball" Hall will be back Saturday.
Trolls (Ute fans) and Dulls (sissy BYU fans) say negative things about Max Hall, but the experts keep declaring that he is the best quarterback in the MWC and one of the very best QBs in the nation.
You played a great game against the Aztecs.
As a diehard Cougar fan, I'm looking forward to you having an outstanding game against the Frogs.
It's time to live up to the legacy established by all of the great BYU quarterbacks and lead the Cougars to another conference championship.
Good luck on Saturday!
of MWC PoW than Max Hall.
Max is having a great senior season and now faces his biggest challenge of the season.
Oklahoma was a surprise.
Florida State was a bigger surprise.
But everyone in the MWC knows what BYU faces this Saturday.
The two best teams in the conference this season going toe to toe with the winner almost certainly clinching at least a share of the MWC title.
GOOO COUGS!
He deserves the Davey O'Brien award that was won by Jim McMahon and twice by Ty Detmer. BYU fans should be voting for Hall on the Davey O'Brien website.
Good Job and Way to Go, Max! Now take care of the TCU this Saturday! Go COUGARS!!!!!
not sure how Hall won over Cain. Cain had a dynamite game against a good UNLV team. Hall struggled against SDSU. If not Cain, then Wide should have won for sure. I think the MWC officials are trying to create pub with college game day coming to town.
Max will be pressured again like OU and FSU game. If Max panics and starts throwing the ball up for grabs this game will be over by half time. Max has to take what the defense gives him and not panic - protect the football and pick up first downs. UNGA will will matters if he brings his A game too. TCU is the best team in the MWC for 2009 so beating them will take a mistake free game plus some big plays.
That 69-yard punt return by Jeremy Kerley of TCU was one of the best returns I've ever seen.
I typical criticize Max, but he was great against UNLV. Great to see him so fearless out of the pocket. Living the life playing D1 football!!
Did someone say "good UNLV" team? Laughable.
Actually Hall did not struggle at all against SDSU. He looked great. The defense looked bad though. What happened to pressuring the QB? He had all the time in the world. I didn't see any blitzes until the last time SDSU had the ball. Don't know how Cain did, I stopped watching the game after the 2nd quarter.
Max struggled against SDSU? What game were you watching? Max had a great game with near perfect running and throwing.
And, a good UNLV team? They have 2 wins (Hawaii and Sac. St.) and 5 losses (including Nevada). Utah struggled much of the game with only 166 yards in first 3 quarters. BYU blew them out. Cain was 17-of-24 for 174 yards and two touchdowns and rushed eight times for 22 yards and a touchdown. Not bad, but not as good of numbers as Hall (27 of 39 for 346 yards & 3 TDs plus about 50 yards rushing and a another TD).
Time for UteFan to do a fact check.
"not sure how Hall won over Cain..."
then you're the only one who couldn't figure it out
Max Hall vs SDSU
27 of 39, 346 yards, 3 TDs passing
14 carries for 47 yards, 1 TD rushing
Terrance Cain vs UNLV
17 of 24, 174 yards, 2 TDs passing
8 carries for 22 yards, 1 TD rushing
Congrats to Max on a solid performance this weekend. He was nearly flawless.
As for the earlier comment about conference's best QB, I'd say the best is Dalton. He's not the best passer, but probably the best QB...with quiet QB rating of 152, he's nearly 3:1 in TD to INT ratio and averages 4 yards per carry. He's a threat with his feet, he's heady and crafty. Hall has a better rating at 163 (impressive given his 10 INTs), but not even a 2:1 TD/INT ratio and he's not got to threaten anyone with his run game (SDSU, we can all admit, was an anomaly). Max is talented, but not the best QB in the conference, in my opinion.
Cain did not have a very good game...he played a defense that is ranked 100+ in the nation. Hall accounted for 4 TDs, well over 300 yards passing, and rushed for over 40 yards. Not to mention, that was against a defense that is ranked 33rd in the nation. SDSU's defense is much better than UNLV's. Look up some facts before you comment.
I think BYU wins this one in a close one....BYU 24 TCU 20
Did you just say "Cain had a dynamite game against a good UNLV team"!?! Didn't they give up over 1400 yards in just two games against Nevada and BYU? I don't know a single person who would call that a good team. I'm not saying SDSU was any better than UNLV, all I am saying is you may want to find a better argument because saying UNLV is a good team completely destroys your argument that Cain deserved the PoW award.
I do think BYU will need to play extremely well to beat TCU this week though. Go Cougs!
The logic of some (but not all) Ute fans is this:
"Any team Utah plays is a good team and every team that BYU plays (except Utah & maybe TCU)is mediocre at best."
Nevermind that both schools play the same conference teams. Hence UNLV was bad when Cougs won but good when Utah won.
