Go Hawks | 7:38 p.m. Oct. 18, 2009
Well it doesn't matter if it is full of region 1. Region 4 will still pull out the state championship. There is no stopping the hawks.
Alta | 10:02 p.m. Oct. 18, 2009
is overrated. Region 1 has it in the bag!

Alta is a dynasty!! These girls can't be stopped!!

RE: Alta  | 7:17 a.m. Oct. 19, 2009
I am not an Alta fan, I coach in 3A soccer, but anyone who says Alta is overrated is scared. Alta is like Mountain View in the early 2000's. Everyone thinks they can beat them but no one can stop them. Alta will have another state title. Too much talent on the team. Most JV players on Alta would make varsity on most other teams in the state.
Saying all of that I would not mind an upset.
Down year, next year | 8:27 a.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Alta will probably win the state championship again this year as they have the other three years with Kealia Ohai. But next year will be a down year for them. Not that Kealia is the whole team, because you don't win four championships in a row with just one good player (even if that players is a great player).

But I show this is the first year in at least ten years that they have not had a second player with at least 10 goals (some years they have had four).

Now a down year for them might mean they are not a clear favorite to win the whole thing (just one of a small had full favored to win the whole thing).

I just don't see them being able to score as much next year, and if you can't score enough it means you will have more close games. More close games equals more loses likely.
coach | 9:51 a.m. Oct. 19, 2009
since you brought up next year keep in mind Davis is doing all this with alot of underclassman playing alot of minutes.
re: coach | 10:08 a.m. Oct. 19, 2009
So is Fremont, they only have two seniors.
Re: Down year, next year | 8:27  | 10:50 a.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Don't get your hopes up about Alta having a down year. Last year's JV team was the first undefeated and untied JV team Alta has had in years. Alta will be deeper and more talented next year than they are this year (Kealia excluded). Alta has very strong Soph and Freshman classes. The Jr class is talented but small and somewhat injury prone. The JV team tied (0-0) and won (5-0) against the Cali teams they played in Sept too.
Time for an upset | 10:54 a.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Bring it home Silverwolves.

Davis vs Fremont for the final.
Ohai's goal count | 11:10 a.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Yah...but she plays in Region 4. Anyone can score that many against weak opponents.
Re: Ohai's goal count | 11:32 a.m. Oct. 19, 2009
I was wondering when someone would say that. Region 1 was stronger in the 1-4 spots than Region 4 was, that was proved. However, no one in Region 4 had an Roy, Clearfield or Northridge to score score 5-8 goals against. No one in Region 4 was as bad as Roy, Clearfield or Northridge and if anyone disputes that, they are not being realistic... and I am a huge Region 1 fan. Ohai is the best player in the state and its not even close. Thats why she will be the first Utahn to play for the best college soccer program in history.
Roy, Clearfield, Northridge | 12:47 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
No doubt that Roy was probably the weakest 5A team in the State. Clearfield and Northridge were not the strongest. But to say they were not as good as very weak Pleasant Grove and American Fork teams is disingenuous. Top to bottom Region 1 has the strongest teams this year and as a result of that preparation they have 3 teams in the semi-finals.
Re: Roy, Clearfield, Northridge  | 1:13 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Best teams don't always win in soccer as anyone should know. The semi's should have two Region 1 teams (Davis and Fremont) and two Region 4 teams (Alta and Brighton). Brighton is a superior team to Viewmont that happened to lose on that day.
Kealia Ohai | 1:29 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Kealia Ohai has probably 5 or 6 goals left in her this week dontcha think? Maybe 10?
Region 4  | 2:02 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Region 4 the toughest region in the past 6 years having the champion and the runner up come out of SLC.. Ohai's goal count has been about the same all those years in the toughest region in the state by far. Oh and along the way Alta has beaten Davis, Viewmont, Northridge, Syarcuse, Layton and any one else that was any good in region 1..Before you talk about Ohai's goal count tell me the last time she lost to a region one team..Try NEVER!.
coach | 2:03 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Ohai will be the first to play for North Carolina but she isn't the first to be offered by them. Several others have passed them over to go elsewhere.
Roy, Clearfield, Northridge | 2:07 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Brighton is a superior team to Viewmont? Based on...?
Goal count | 2:08 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
What a joke you have teams in region one that have given up mopre goals then any teams in the state. If Ohai were in Region one she would have 50 goals this year.
Roy, Clearfield, Northridge | 2:33 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
"Brighton is a superior team to Viewmont". Based on ...???
re: Kealia Ohai | 2:49 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Lots of brothers or a very happy dad, not sure which one...
Pad the stats? | 2:52 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Just seems odd when you see Kealia put up:

Alta 9-0 Pleasant Grove (Ohai scores 5)
Alta 6-0 Riverton (Ohai scores 5)
Alta 7-0 American Fork (Ohai scores 3)
Alta 8-1 Jordan (Ohai scores 4)
Alta 7-0 Syracuse (Ohai scores 4)

Really coach? At what point do you maybe pull your star? Does she really need to score more than 3 every game. I think this is foolish, and her club team (and future college) probably would like to see her rested instead of risked. What's with the blowouts?
4 Ego | 3:03 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
It's always entertaining when the mighty Region 4 egos take a hit. If hearts were as big as egos we would have 4 Region 4 teams in the semis!
Who? | 3:11 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
So, is this Ohai's dad or what? Really, who else would take credit and be so obsessed with what she can or cannot do? Unless it is one of her extremely out of balanced coaches. Seriously, someone really needs to get a life instead of posting ALL season long on her abilities. Take a breathe buddy, it will be okay.
Region 4 | 3:37 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Hey Uncle Rico. Let's quit talking about the past 6 years and let's talk about this year. Region 1 is stronger top to bottom - well almost to bottom. No more living in the past or I'll have to throw a daggum steak at your face!
re: Pad the stats | 3:45 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Looks like Alta is a one man team. Does anyone else every get to shine?
Alta last chance | 3:48 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
...looking at the numbers, I would think Alta gonna have to do some re-building once Mia, I mean Kealia moves on.

I doubt the "just dump it long" approach works next year. Maybe have to actually play as a team.
UNC | 3:59 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Lots of players from Utah have been offered ya name one!.
Overrated | 4:00 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
*clap* *clap* *clap,clap,clap*

Region one/Get a life | 4:03 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Get a life when your looking up Ohai's stats that getting a little strange.
RE;Who | 4:05 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
So you can your friends can attack Ohai but me and my friends can't defend her.You need to take a breather, at least we know her, your just a hater.
RE;Coach/Full of it | 4:13 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Name one player in the state of Utah that turned down UNC. I can't wait to hear this!. I've been coaching club soccer for ten years, and know the UNC coaches very well and know of all the top talent in the state for the past ten years, please name one!. Your hilarious!.
Go Davis!  | 4:13 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Good luck Davis! Go all the way!
Davis  | 4:18 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Viewmont doesn't stand a chance, they are not a good team and Davis will destroy them. My guess 6-0,
sorry Viewmont maybe next century.
Sorry Region 1 | 4:22 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Region 1's bottom is worse than any region in the state. No wonder you don't want to live in the past you've never done anything in the past.
Coach1 | 4:23 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Goal count, you have no idea what you are talking about. Goals given up? What about goals scored. Davis leads the league in goals scored by 13 goals. That will win you a lot of games. Also, region 1 has some great teams that can score goals. The better the teams, the more goals are scored. Davis has given up 13 goals this year, 2 more than Alta and 7 less than Brighton. Fremont only 12, 1 more than Alta and 8 less than Brighton. I'm not sure where you're getting your information. It should be some interesting semi and championship games. Alta is no doubt the favorite but i think it will be competitive.
RE:Pad the stats | 4:30 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
What a joke, so I guess Davis beating Roy 14-0 and Layton beating Roy 10-0 is ok. Talk about a hypocrite.
Viewmont will win | 4:35 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Davis is going down, Viewmont is on a mission Davis cannot handle the pressure Viewmont will put on them. The Darts are duds.
Seriously? | 5:17 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
I do not know Kalia Ohai. Never talked to her in my life. I am a fan of a 4A school. I have, however, watched her play 3 times in the last two years. Once for Alta (against Timpanogos) and twice for Avalanche. She is amazing. She is the best player I have seen at the high school level. Period. You don't have to agree with me- it's just my opinion. I don't understand why people are so jealous, and have to say rude things on this board. Enjoy watching her play (I know I have), and be happy for her success. I will be following her at UNC, and hoping for her future success. It just helps Utah soccer gain respect. Be kind, and just like your Mom taught you when you were 5- "If you can't say anything nice, dont say anything at all!"
RE:Seriously | 5:44 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
The best post of the year!. Your mom taught you well.
REGION 1 ROCKS!!! | 6:13 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
If you knew your history you would know that all DYNASTIES come to an end eventually, and guess what?! Yours has arrived! Fremont will kick your butts! GO REGION 1 and take it ALL!!!!!!!!
Anonymous | 6:16 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
I am sick of Alta! I want them gone and I want them gone now! Ugh! DAVIS AND FREMONT FOR THE FINAL!!!!!!! although if you do decide to stick around, I wouldn't mind Alta and DAVIS for the final!!!!
DHS DARTS | 7:38 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
Come on girls, go into these games ready to go. Don't underestimate anyone. Play your game and play like it's the last game you'll ever play. The Darts together can do it. BEAT VIEWMONT!!!
FreMont MoM | 9:20 p.m. Oct. 19, 2009
FreMont Girls!!! U guys deserve this u played hard this season let's beat Alta tomorrow.. Smile Have fun and kick some Butt.. I love ya all a ton and u all are amazing to watch so lets do this again and WIN....
hahahaha | 8:03 a.m. Oct. 20, 2009
The title of this article should read '5A semifinals - Region 1 is full of it'.

Davis will show us how they've perfected the choke job over the years. It's just too bad that they won't be able to display it to the home crowd like they usually do. Viewmont is in uncharted waters for them too. It'll be fun to watch which team is best able to give the game away.

After today, Fremont will be nothing more than a footnote in Alta's next state championship.
RE:Fremont mom | 8:23 a.m. Oct. 20, 2009
Fremont deserves it because they played hard this year? like no one else played hard this year. You'll have to do better than that.
coach | 8:53 a.m. Oct. 20, 2009
the first Utah girl soccer player that was offered by UNC was Caroline Putz, the two time Parade Magazine All American who is also the only Utahan to have played in a fullt international game. How's that for hilarious.
upset | 9:01 a.m. Oct. 20, 2009
Everybody loves an upset and the underdog, well maybe not Alta.
Re: Roy, Clearfield, Northridge  | 9:04 a.m. Oct. 20, 2009
Based on the fact that Brighton would beat Viewmont 9 out of 10 times they played. Congrats on hitting the lottery.
total1096 | 9:06 a.m. Oct. 20, 2009
I'd love to be able to go see all four games played at Juan Diego today. There should be some really good soccer.
Alta  | 9:06 a.m. Oct. 20, 2009
Go Alta! Get all these Region 1 teams to shut their mouths. Region 4 is the best by far. Alta make us proud. You guys are awesome.
