Those poor contractors! I understand fully how it is to not be paid on a signed deal. Not on this scale however, I cannot imagine. I wish people would stop buying their luxe vacations, handbags and rounds of golf to be humbled that it is people like tilers, roofers, and woodworkers who actually are their bread and butter and need to be nurtured! I have always treated my secretary like gold for example and hope this sets an example for others to ponder.

Thanks..off my soapbox now :)

Debt is a debt.

This is why america is crumbling, corporations are using the courts to get out of the debts they owe.

A reorganization of a corporation should not have a thing to do with when a debt was established and all are due and payable. If a chapter 11 is filed it should also restrict any new business dealings until the old ones are settled. Court actions should reflect this.

This kind of action is what is putting the smaller companies out of business and with unpaid workers.

Maybe there's a lesson here. The justice deparment sits on its hands while the big get bigger at the expense of the little guy of course!

This points out another problem, as well. These places are owned and built by outfits with names that include phrases like 'income trust' or 'growth'. We see this in all kinds of industries, from food processing to media outlets. They're owned for one purpose only...to generate money. Often peddled from one outfit to the next, milked for all they're worth and sold or abandoned. No care is given anymore as to how these properties or industries should be run for the better of the community and nation, or any thought to improving them. Take all the money out and run. It's not working anymore.

@Doug G

You said it. There are no worries for the people who milk these properties dry.

same owner as cottonwood?

are they not the same company that ownes cottonwood mall? if thats the case i don't think these people will get paid!
