Thank heaven for the diligence of our UHP officers in their relentless pursuit of impaired drivers. If not for them, the rest of us would be in more danger than we already are.Impaired driving is a serious problem here and everywhere and people need to be held accountable for their actions when behind the wheel. The more impaired drivers cited or arrested, the better. Best to go to jail and pay a fine that's not high enough than cause injury to yourself and others. Go UHP!
Not to pick on them, but I'd wager that there are many elderly drivers who would fail a field sobriety test on their best day.
To the Anonymous drunk. I have never....drank even turned down soda pop that was loaded and I didn't know and Salt Lake PD told me I as too clean after after a Poly graph. Here in Santa Clara Ca the Lt. told me I was the only interviewer who would arrest a fellow PD or a family member so I didn't continue in the process. I learned the next city asked me the same question. I said no one in my family drinks if I didn't arrest I would be thrown out of the family. They laughed and I passed that question. I think the un named drunk is also a member of DAM (mothers against dyileskia.....)
This tactic could be expanded if we had a conservative Supreme Court. We could have police randomly search homes and businesses for crimes in progress. We could check garbage can for hazardous material too.

Thanks for getting these drunks off the road before they killed someone.
Too often the drunks end up killing innocent motorists or pedestrians, and escape serious injury themselves.
Next time, don't announce where the checkpoint will be and you will get even more drunks and criminals.
Keep up the good work!
Patriot,Better than a Intoxicated Person killing a loved one of yours. Sure this road check takes time, 35 seconds and your on the way, UNLESS your Impaired, then it's a bit longer and expensive.
