I have fond memories of Joe Lee newscasts on KCPX and of United Fence commercials and his other work down through many years--I will miss him.

KNAK!

Thanks, Joe, for reading the news to this teenager who ONLY listened to KNAK!

That voice.

During the late '80s and through the '90s, I had an annual radio interview for his early Sunday morning program. In the first interview, when Joe Lee asked me the first question, I was a bit dumfounded, because his voice was such a part of my teen years and it was like a prophet speaking at me; I could barely respond. In my annual visits to his program, I found him to be an astude and empathetic person. My father was in advertising; he always expressed an admiration for Joe Lee's work......Joe Lee's voice for American Fence (?) has to be one of the longest runing commercials in broadcast history. I really liked this man.

KDYL, KCPX

Joe Lee was indeed a Great Radio Legend. From the story, Joe Lee worked for KDYL which was the orginal
call letters for 1320 AM before Columbia Pictures bought the stations (radio and TV) and re-named them
KCPX. So Joe worked on both sides of the AM 1320
call letters and owners. Now that station is the
Sports "Fan" station.

Joe Lee was a Fabulous Broadcaster!!!

God Bless his family at this time.

..And if there's a need for "announcers" in the next life, I Wish the best of luck to continue to be able use his great talents.

A true professional - such a rarity now. Joe you will be greatly missed.

I got my interest in the news by listening to Joe Lee. I'll also never forget, (engine revving)" Drag racing, drag racing. This Saturday Night under the lights at Bonneville." I went to the drag races because of Joe Lee. I didn't, however, buy any fence from United Fence.

What a voice, what a guy. I remember him being at a symposium for high school journalism students up at the U when I was in high school in the 70's. Everyone knew the voice, no one knew the face. I shut my eyes and listened to his presentation. He and Roy Gibson made the program a great one.

He will be missed.

Joe Lee was my grandpa and a wonderful man. I didn't grow up in Utah, so I didn't grow up hearing him on the Radio. My siblings, cousins, and I would get a kick out of hearing his voice when a United Fence ad would come on.

We're sure going to miss him.

Joe I am really going to miss you. I remember when I met you while working on The Jon and Dan show and eventually Ground Zero. You told me that I delivered my stories with a dark and compelling voice. I told you why. I told you it was because I wanted to have that Joe Lee "You have Got to Listen to this story" attitude. You laughed. I met a legend. Going to miss you and I am going to miss "this is Joe Lee reporting the news from KCPX."
