Coach Mendenhall is very complimentary in this article. I hope SDSU play tough and the game turns out to be a good game. Not this weekend.

Go Cougars BYU 63 SDSU 3

Doubtful that BYU will score 40 points on Rocky Long when he had two weeks to prepare his defense. If SDSU can hold them under 30 they have a real opportunity. Key to the game will be BYU's defense.

So, where does it prove SDSU is an improved team? Boosting all their coaches and their history doesn't suddenly make them an improved team. Look at USU and all the hype there. They got destroyed by BYU and Utah and even little SUU scored a ton on them. They are ranked 115 half way through the season. So much for new personnel making a difference right away. Nothing about this game says it's a trap game. BYU will go in there and prove that SDSU is on the same level as UNLV. It's a nice breather game to prepare for TCU.

What about the University of San Diego? They had an undefeated regular season just a couple of years ago, which led to Jim Harbaugh getting the coaching job at Stanford. Research!

The peices are certainly there with that coaching staff for SDSU to be a good football program. Hopefully the coaches can turn that program around. I've never been able to figure out how a team with all the built in recruiting advantages of southern California, fairly decent coaches, and a lot of great athletes can't win more games. I have to believe its the administration. Hopefully Hoke can turn that program around in a few years. He doesn't have the players to make much difference this season, but the next couple of years will be interesting if they can recruit well.

After the hype machine by Bronoc the final score will be no different. 42-17 Just keep running the ball with UNGA!! It will make you look like a great coach.
Hoke | 10:26 a.m. Oct. 16, 2009
If Hoke -- or any coach-- succeeds at SDSU they will be packing their bags to make 7 figures at some BCS school. SDSU is a college football black hole. Not a destination school for any coach. THey'll never achieve consistent success.

Bronco is a great coach!

Some Utah fans are just bitter that BYU ended up with a coach every bit as good as, and in some areas, better, than Kyle.
RE; Great Coach | 1:52 p.m. Oct. 16, 2009
Ute fans bitter? Seriously? Um...we don't want Bronco, we're perfectly happy with Whittingham. Remember it was the cougs that tried to get Kyle, Bronco is your second choice. We'll stick with the guy that brings undefeated seasons and BCS games.

Huh, where did that come from? Nevermind, I don't wanna know. Bronco and Kyle are both good coaches.

Go Cougs!

Somebody went to Boise quite a few years ago and made them a winner. If It can be done in Boise, it can be done anywhere. Why would anyone choose Boise over San Diego ? It is hard to understand why San Diego has not been able to build a decent program. I realize there is USC and UCLA but so many kids from California play all over the country. It would seem that San Diego State would be able to scrape off enough talent to be competitive. Maybe they do get talent but it is kind of like the LA Clippers it is a great place to live and loosing is accepted. Barring a miracle, BYU should win this game going away. I don't think it would matter if you gave San Diego State a whole year to prepare. I don't realy mean to be insulting, I expect a lot more from San Diego State. It would be nice if they could lift themselves from the college football cellar. Beating them is no big deal, everyone does it. All this is kind of rude I know and I sure hope BYU dosn't have some sort of meltdown.
RE: RR | 6:50 p.m. Oct. 16, 2009
Interesting you speak of rankings and USU being #115(probably espn.com) yet you make no mention of Florida State being #5 in ESPN's bottom ten(forgot the beatdown they put on the cougs?). And all the "hype" surrounding Utah St. this season was to simply make a bowl game not go undefeated or something spectacular so please get your facts strait.
Always a Ram | 8:29 p.m. Oct. 16, 2009
Just like both coaches said, it takes a change in attitude, a change in the whole atmosphere of the team. The guy who turned Boise around was Dirk Koetter. I was lucky enough to be coached by Dirk in High School. He did the same thing at Highland in Pocatello, many years before he went to Boise. Both teams still have a winning tradition. Maybe Hoke can do it at SDSU.
Reality | 9:53 p.m. Oct. 16, 2009
BYU could leave the entire 1st team home, and would not need to worry about losing to San Diego High School.

RE: RE: RR @ 6:50 pm

You do realize that the number 5 spot on the bottom ten rankings is always reserved for a BCS team that does something embarrassing, and not that they actually think that team is really the 5th worst in the country, right?

More typical trivial low life remarks from you. You or your son must have been refused a scholarship by Bronco and it is now your life's dream to be negative about him. Time to grow up and be a man about life.
