That's like a dollar for every year he's been in office. I am sickened!(Pun intended)

Then again it's also the same amount as the bill I got from my insurance company for an ingrown toe nail. The Horra!!!

They support you because they are tools just like you.

It's funny how protesters shouting down liberal members of congress are ok but when they come knocking at Hatch's door he wants to kick their teeth in. Borin' Orrin!

KICK HATCH OUT  | 3:04 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
HATCH needs to be kicked to the curb. He's old and out of touch. PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY TERM LIMITS ARE NEED IN THE SENATE.
Stuart G. Crump | 3:14 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
This dispute is even more comical than a debate between Al Gore and George W. Bush on the virtues of punch card voting systems.

How does one kick a Web site in the teeth?
gp | 3:19 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
Dear Senator Hatch.

Go ahead. I'll hold them down while you give a good kick.

Hey Hatch, this is why we need Healthcare Reform

Hey, we all gotta go sometime. I don't see any morning here going on.

Ben Williams, who was born into a circus family and made a name for himself both inside and outside the Big Top, died this month of cancer.

He was 56.

Williams was best known as a flamboyant, tiger-skin-loincloth-clad performer who delighted crowds by fearlessly cavorting around elephants, particularly his beloved 7,880-pound Anna May. But he had another side apart from the circus, as East Bay High's first male cheerleader and president of the National Honor Society. Williams first rode an elephant at 4 months. As a toddler, he made a jungle gym out of the species, intrepidly leaping from back to back. When not on the road in his younger years, he went to school in south Hillsborough County, where in 1972 he was East Bay High's first male cheerleader. He turned down a scholarship to the University of South Florida to stay with the elephants.

Williams died of gastrointestinal cancer.

HATCH public universities are heavily subsidized by taxpayers. The idea that a government-run insurance plan would compete fairly because it would be funded entirely by the insurance premiums it collects is a fantasy. The interest costs government pays, its ability to borrow capital from the federal treasury and such are so different for private companies and the government that the idea of fair competition between government and industry is an economic oxymoron. As they say, if it sounds to good to be true, it is. Could any other's (Utahns per se) read Obama, in his poker-game of "I'm all in" hogwash, and if any Bill spends a dime he won't sign it?. I laughed so hard I started to cry when Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C shouted "You lie" at President Barack Obama as he addressed Congress, when Obama said illegal's will be exempt from his healthcare plan. Wilson's truthful outburst caused Obama to pause briefly before he went on with his speech. Behind him House Speaker Nancy Pelosi could be seen glaring in Wilson's direction as he brought her down off of her high. Just like hatch does.

Hatch deserves criticism for supporting big business interests over the interests of the common man.
david jay | 4:01 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
Hatch, the useless, would kick anyone in the teeth that threatened his money train. He takes money from anyone willing to give it, and represents a select list of quality people, such as Energy Solutions, the Tobacco companies, and insurance companies. What a winner!
Anonymous | 4:07 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
So, the might Hatch has some sunshine shown on who contributes to him and he wants to inflict violence?

Careful Orrin, Prophet Monson said anger was bad so stop being a bad example.
Bam Bam  | 4:14 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
What's the big deal, this is Obama's entire presidency. He helps those who have helped him. He's the epidomy of political corruption and the spoils system. He is a devil in sheeps clothing. Orrin Hatch has been a tireless conservative who has done the right thing. If insurance companies want to give him money, then it's better off in his hands working to salvage American principles than to spending on wasteful programs and free rides for liberals and Obama's buddies.
Anonymous | 4:26 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
Hatch is a good man and I support him...good for you Orrin Hatch.
Dave | 4:42 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
"Orrin Hatch has been a tireless conservative who has done the right thing".

Are you kidding me?????? 33 years in the Senant! Hatch has been out of touch for some time now. Look at how he ignored all of us here in Utah and voted for the Bail Out. I agree with the others, Kick him to the curb.
A common American man  | 4:49 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
I'm another common American man. Wake up America !!! We need to get on our knees and thank our God in Heaven, for Senator Hatch. All American,s should cry out for our beloved America ,to be blessed with having another dozen or two, Sen. Hatches. When I read your comments. They do not even come close to the integrity, honesty, love of family, love of America and a great love of America's beloved CONSTITUTION. These are the attributes, Senator Hatch bears. It is so clear, that your comments describe The Administration, in America's White House. george soros, move on.org, anita dunn and etc etc etc. We American's, must always be mindful that God, hates a lier !!! A word to the wise is sufficient.

Orrin Hatch is a real RINO | 4:54 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
First we lose out SS cost of living raise cus of Hatch, now I GET IT UTAH, President Obama should give the peace prize to GOP Sen Hatch for padding so much pork into bills for Utah hey. am I not right?. Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, told a national TV audience Today that he would like to kick the liberal MoveOn org in the teeth for a protest it held against him outside his Salt Lake City office a day earlier. MoveOn org is a scurrilous organization. It is funded by George Soros. He's about as left-wing as you can find in this country," Hatch told MSNBC about the protest. Soros is well known for spending huge amounts on efforts to campaign against George W. Bush in 2004. Hatch added, "They are up to just one thing, and that is to smear good people. And frankly, they are not going to smear me without getting kicked in the teeth by me." Talk is cheap - put on the REAL boxing gloves and really step into the ring. Unless these Hatch RINO GOP are cowards?. Hatch needs to step down.
OOOOOOK | 5:03 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
It's okay to harrass DEMOCRATS, but not OKAY to harrass REPUBLI/CONS?

Thank you Mr. Hatch for your SITUATIONAL TRANSPARENCY.

Mr. Hatch could easily be labled as a HYPOCRITE, but I think that would demean HYPOCRITES.
katamb - Midvale | 5:10 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
How many of you have been at your jobs for 20-30 years? Should your company "kick you to the curb" just because you've been there a long time? No? Then why do you want to toss a defender of Utah out of the Senate? We need people with wisdom, not people with hiddden agendas. You go, Senator Hatch! I support you too!
CONSIDER THE SOURCE | 5:13 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
Just consider the source. Anything with the MoveOn organization connected with it is not to be trusted or believed. The constitution would be trampled into the ground if they had their way.
Instereo | 5:17 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
Name calling instead of facing the issues is what's wrong with American Politics. It didn't start with MoveOn but with the John Birch Society and has evolved into the Eagle Forum or the Sutherland Institute (just to make it sound like it's a legitamate think tank).

The fact is we have a health care problem and the insurance industry is a big part of it and something more needs to be done about it then voting NO on everything and threatening to kick out the teeth of anyone that disagrees with you by actually wanting to get something done.

Quit playing politics. After 33 years you should be able to stand up for what's right instead of the self interests of a right-wing agenda.
Utah harrass REPUBLI/CONS | 5:24 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
Hatch yells out that you politically correct obsessed people need to GET A LIFE! after Hatch was padding so much pork into bills for Utah for decades, well talk is cheap - put on the REAL boxing gloves and really step into the ring. Unless these Hatch RINO GOP are cowards?. Hatch needs to step down. And as they say, "LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE" in 2010 also. Veterans, the elderly and the disabled we lose our SS cost of living raise cuz of Hatch, but he pads his pockets with a huge cost of living raise, and so that 60 million Americans don't riot because of this, Obama flips us a extra $250, and the GOP want to block that now to?. HATCH EITHER STEP DOWN NOW, or get tared and feathered and ran out of Utah on a rail. That's how we all feel about that RINO Hatch n da boyz in their hood hogwash game.

I left my name, address, cell phone number, and email address with Senator Orrin Hatch's office, when I delivered the symbolic cheque for $$913,614.00.

Does Senator Hatch really intend to come to my home and "kick in my teeth"? That's not nice at all.

Well, neither is allowing our fellow Americans, including my sister, to live without full medical insurance coverage.

proudrex | 6:18 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
Long ago I was a Senator Hatch fan. I even went door to door for him during elections. But as each year passes by he drifts farther and farther to the left. I've even offered to send him a copy of The U S Constitution, he seems to have forgotten what he is spposed to be defending. He and Senator Bennett are two of the problems that helped to bring THE WON to the Whitehouse. It really is time for them to retire. They have already done so much dammage to the "loyal opposition" and to Conservative principles that I'm begining to wonder if there is any hope for our country. Too bad, both The United States and Senator Hatch were good ides.......many years ago.
Better Idea | 6:33 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
Instead of kicking the protestors in the teeth, I advise Mr. Hatch to sing to them a song from his album. I promise you, the protestors would disperse immediately.
Have a Clue | 6:47 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
Hey all you Hatch Haters...Healtcare reform is the absolute worse thing that could happen to this country. Why do you think Canada is trying to get RID OF the socialized medicine mess that they got themselves into? I lived under Socialized medicine for several years. Guess what...the people who wanted real quality health care paid money out thier own pockets to go to a doctor that was not being paid by the government. Be careful what you ask for, you might get it.
Re: proudrex | 6:55 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
I think Sen. Hatch is more liberal than Obama. In fact, Hatch is more to the left and liberal than Hillary Clinton, Pelosi, and Harry Reid -- combined.

I too am tired of all the dern liberals ruining the country and trying to give me access to health care. Rush Limbaugh is the most liberal of all. He's so liberal and to the left they wouldn't even let him to buy a football team.

Hatch,

I know of a wonderful set of parents who have a son with a brain tumor. The son cannot serve a mission because of it and although he would like to get married, if he does he will lose his insurance policy, and no one will insure him. There is No choice except to stay on his parents insurance and at a crazy cost.

Meanwhile you recieve close to one million dollars from these insurance companies over the years to look the other way!

Another kick in the teeth!
OldMike | 7:18 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
Orrin - Just ignore them and just say No!!! No change to anything and let's go back to the wonderful world of 2008.
Unbelievable | 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
I still don't get it. Why are some Utahns so bent on voting our Delegation out of office?! Don't you get it? Sen. Hatch has done so much for our state and his seniority is worth so much for us. Yet, we think by voting him out we'll teach him a lesson. We're the ones who will suffer. We'll be lowest on seniority and without any sway/clout. The Democrats are in charge and will be for a while. Do you think a junior senator will be able to do anything for us in such a climate?

Hatch will be fine if not reelected. He could have made a fortune as an attorney and will do just fine afterward. Give the man a break and recognize the "vote-him-out strategy" will only hurt our state in the long run.
Re: Have a Clue | 7:34 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
Nobody is trying to pass socialized medicine. Obama knows it wouldn't ever work the in the U.S. and that's why he's proposing a solution uniquely American.

BTW, do you really think your insurance company cares about you? They'll find any reason to drop you like a rock if you get sick and start cutting into their profits.

One more thing, READ THE BILL!
Bob Newsome | 7:40 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009

worldwide. Most of the countries are largely public (government) funded and ruled, which means they run a monopoly on what they buy, who they serve, etc. If Obama care goes forward, they will eventually work their way into the same type of system, which really stinks. If a patient wants to get something done, they are better off going to those hospitals on the private side. The same thing will happen in the U.S. ....the docs will want to go private and the whole system will become polarized. Look at the rest of the world demos.....its the path to destruction. It is not efficient, trust me.

I like Hatch...but it is time to hang up the jersey....for someone who entered politics on the platform against someone who had been in office too long.....well, Sen Hatch, what goes around comes around and you are too comfy in Washington.
RE: Unbelivable | 7:43 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
Why? Some of us People are trying to save what's left our nation and Constitution.

Hatch as shown ill regard for our nation and Constitution by voting for huge expansion of powers under Bush, stripping our rights via Patriot Act and Military Commission Act, stealing our money and giving it to his donors via TARP, etc.

True, we lose his "senority," but we gain peace of mind for choosing what is right! "Do what is right let the consequence follow..." Sometimes that means a little pain and suffering in the short term to protect what is most valuable in the long term.

We shouldn't keep a horrible senator, just because of what he can bring (Unconstitutionally) back to our little state... We need to replace him with someone who recognizes that the current Federal dependency must end for this nation to reverse its destructive course.

We must stand up and choose FREEDOM! INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY! & PROTECT OUR GOD-GIVEN RIGHTS! from these fools who have sold us down the river. Hatch is just too much a part of it to be worthy of my vote!

No breaks for a man who is broken!
Re: Re: Have a.... | 7:57 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
I've read the bill... Have you watched John Stossel of 20/20 talk about the Canadian system? Or seen his report about how Insurance Makes Healthcare Far More Expensive? (Look for the videos online.)

Whether "evil companies" or "Obama plan," the problem IS how we use insurance. Using a 3-rd party payment system drives the costs up...

Obama's plan doesn't address the REAL problem.
We need to start using insurance for catastrophic coverage only.
Beowulf | 7:58 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
If anybody remembers, MoveOn.Org was established in the last 1990s to protect Pres. Bill Clinton from scurrilous attacks on his reputation, due to woman problems. They argued that it was not an impeachable offense, and we should just "Move On people." I actually agreed with them.
But during the Bush years, they completely forgot the meaning of their name and became the worst sort of Never-Move-On regarding whatever they considered to be a Bush sin. Now they are at it again, pestering anyone who does not subscribe to their particular radical-left-wing vision for America. I wish that they would change their name to something more apposite, like MoveLeft or Reds-R-Us. As it is, I sympathize with Hatch's exasperation.
I'm Concerned | 8:34 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
It's going to be no easy task fixing the major problems facing the country.

Can you imagine becoming President while inheriting a financial meltdown, recession, sky high unemployment, two wars, and a huge national debt??

For the sake of my children, I'm standing behind the man who was elected President. I hope he can make things better.
Courage | 8:51 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
I commend Mr. Hatch for supporting health care reform and for voting for the bill.

In fact, I thought all of these tea partiers against health reform quit their shenanigans after the town halls in August??

It's nice to see a brave Senator finally stand up to these confused individuals. Good job Mr. Hatch!
Docrob | 9:39 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
So Hatch is for health care reform. How about a list of bills he has sponsored in the past. Remember he was there when the Repubs were in charge. What did they do?
well for instance | 11:20 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
to Docrob: The modern generic drug industry is because of a Hatch law - if it weren't for that law you wouldn't have generic drugs, Orphan drug legislation for people who the drug companies wouldn't normally develop drugs for - that is a Hatch law. The ability to get vitamins and health food supplements without a Dr.s prescription - that is a Hatch law. I listened to his town hall meeting and heard him say that he was willing to get rid of pre-existing conditions, work through medical malpractice reform, and several other things that made a lot of sense to me. It sounded like he did not want to surrender the good health care opportunites that MOST Americans have in order to have some mediocre health care system for everybody and wasn't willing to mortgage our grandkids future to get a bad solution now. Besides, I would like to see someone show that he has personally benefitted from any of the money given to his campaign. He could make ten times the money practicing law than he makes in the Senate and still golf 3 days a week. Some of you folks are freakin clueless,
Hatch Is Right | 3:21 a.m. Oct. 16, 2009
Senator Hatch is right in this case. Doing nothing is better than what the Democrats want to do.

Orrin head thy own advice 3 terms should be enough for anyone, you sad pathetic little man. Oops I guess you want to kick me in the teeth now.
Salem | 4:33 a.m. Oct. 16, 2009
Senator Hatch would do well to retire, spend time with his wife who deserves more of it, and play golf the rest of the time. I'm not against him but think most senators are in way too long. Most should be replaced by strong individuals with a well established and proven set of values without caving in to the democrats. For a minute there I thought he was going to kick a few democrats in the teeth. Oh well....maybe next time.

Meanwhile a visit to the dermatologist will have to wait till December and thats with insurance. Thats what the dermatologist office receptionist in Utah said.

Refusing to leave the dermatologist office (Cant do that said the receptionist), a wait of at least an hour and then talking to the Doctor.

The Doctor said that it was a life threatening problem and infection that needed immediate attention otherwise the result would of been death.

The visit ends up costing $180 and gotta love insurance because instead of $180 it ended being $130. And thats not including prescription costs.

Hahaha. Insurance only brought down the bill $50.00. What a rip.

Quality Healthcare? Quality Insurance?

A visit to a socialistic country (One with freedom and nationalized public healthcare) during travels and being seen immediately by specialists cost $30.00 and they solved the problem.

Quality Healthcare in other countrys. Other countrys cringe at the insurance industry in the United States.

Insurance Industry are Death Panels in the United States. Both Financially and Physically.

Kick in the Teeth, Mr Hatch.
Anonymous | 4:49 a.m. Oct. 16, 2009
Hatch is going to give that million dollars back, isnt he?

A million dollars to those who are being ripped off by the insurance industry who gave him the money?

Action, Mr Hatch?

You are on the Senate Banking Committee, Mr Hatch. Why not ask all those Banks from the Bank Bailout Robbery for the million?

Then pay it back to the people who needed health and were ripped off by the insurance industry that gave the money to you?

I see a lot of accusations towards Senator Hatch over the Social Security COLA. What I've read indicates that getting a zero % COLA is better than what would have been given if the regulations were strictly followed. According to those regulations, SS benefits are to be adjusted according to a change in cost of living, based on specific measures. I read about this not long ago, and those measures actually indicated a DROP IN COLA. Let me restate that - if the regulations were strictly followed, SS beneficiaries would have their payments cut as part of a COLA, not increased.

My parents are living on Social Security, so I wasn't happy about the 0% COLA. But it beats having their payments cut.
MOVE ON! | 5:43 a.m. Oct. 16, 2009
I am a proud left wing member of MOVE ON and I want to send a message to Hatch: MOVE ON! Maybe the truth hurts. I'd like to KICK YOU IN THE TEETH!
Paul in MD | 5:50 a.m. Oct. 16, 2009
I don't think it's fair to say that not supporting an $829 BILLION bill ($1.5 TRILLION according to some government officials) to overhaul health care is the same as not wanting to fix the problems with health care. Yes, there are real problems with the system we have. But there are many issues we could fix without spending anything but the time to put some regulations in place.

Look at a typical hospital bill. It usually consists of more than a dozen separate bills, from individual groups who claim to work at the hospital and say they did something for you. I've seen news reports of insurance adjusters and professional accountants who couldn't figure out the mess from one hospital stay. Double-billing is a huge problem. I also know of many people who pay some of these bills after months of trying to get explanations for services they don't believe they got, just to keep from having their credit dinged. Make it law that all charges from a hospital stay have to be clearly explained in one bill through the hospital. It would certainly save trees!
