The New england game is huge and our game in Toronto huge as well. When you
think of good role models and sports heroes, or good class people, Andy Williams
ranks right up there in my book. Him and Findley linking up.. Man that was
great....Our back 4 did a good job, even though at times in 1 on 1 battles the
New York looked dangerous at times but considering we were always pushing,
everyone got back and held ground. Obviously, everyone knows what is at stake
Saturday. You do not want to rely on more help from other venues.

What a lung-busting run from Andy to get to that back post for the goal! Showed
the desire he still has. Would Mathis have made that run?

What was so frustrating was that New York seemed very unorganized, played the
ball out of bounds more than they played to another player. We were dominating
the ball and we couldn't get it in. Andy changed all that. After he got on
and the players started feeding him the ball he took the game over. What other
mid do we have that would make a far post run like he did in the 80th? We were
much more dangerous after he got on.
What a job by Espindola as well I saw him iso'd on the sideline by a NY defender several times leaving him on his backside as Espindola made his move into the 18. Totally deserved that goal which was as spectacular as his play.
Olave stayed in the game and saved a couple of dangerous moments for us, as well as Beckerman who ran hard all game. Great game to watch.

shot on goal after shot on goal hit the post last year in the conf. final.

RSL showed some heart last night when I was starting to wonder if they had it in
them. Now they have to do what they have never done before, string together
three victories in a row. If they can pull that off they will have the
confidence to go all the way.

Why does Mathis start instead of Williams? Actually, why does Mathis start in
front of anybody. He was clearly ineffectual and basically just stood around
while he was in. I was at the game and my first comment when Williams scored
was that Mathis would never be able to make that play.
While RSL won the game, they clearly looked sluggish and I wondered if they really wanted to win. And this against the worst team in the MLS. If RSL can win/draw against Toronto, then they have a chance. If not, it's time for some serious changes beginning with the coach.

Excellent game RSL. Both goals were spectacular. Now RSL needs to go on the road and show they really are a different team. Good teams win on the road. Are we a good team?

Let me introduce you to the game. Soccer is just as physical as basketball and
more physical than baseball. It requires more stamina than either sport. Play
is not delayed by long breaks as in football and nearly endless breaks as in
baseball. If you are a 400 lb heart attack waiting to happen, you might play
football, but you'll never play soccer.
Baseball, Basketball and Football are terrific sports. But they're not better or more demanding than soccer, just different.

Andy Williams goal was a thing of pure brilliance. Espindola had a sweet finish
as well. One other thing that I loved from the game was the show of support for
injured USMNT member Charlie Davies. Before the game I noticed a lot of people
passing out the #9 on a sheet of paper(an idea started by a supporters club in
Baltimore to bring to the WCQ in RFK stadium last night) and the majority of the
stadium held them up in the 9th minute. Also I loved how both teams and the
officials came out of the locker room wearing #9 Davies shirts in support. The
Barra Real and Section 26 also got the Charlie! Davies! chant started. Very
classy and a wonderful thing to do. Great night all around!

Well Rimando made me look dumb and Borchers too. I could not hate the
NYRB's "style" more. Since there is offsides FIFA need to have a
rule that will stop "bunke-ball". It's called the beautiful game
for a reason. Last night was not beautiful save the last 10 minutes. Our first
yellow was a joke, NYRB went down on the slightest contact. That was the best
performance man for man RSL has ever had. Not one person looked bad at all. Andy
Williams called his shot, on FB he said I am going to score tonight. Good for
him. ESPY's goal was unreal.
I loved that everyone held up their 9 signs at the ninth minute. I hope Davies gets better as fast as possible.

Needs to be played more! Most players would have missed that opportunity. He has
been with this team for years, he deserves more playing time. Well done boys,
lets get this win in Canada!

That was an enjoyable game, but I think the team didn't look as crisp as
they could have. Maybe chalk it up to not playing a meaningful game for 18
days. In particular, Wingert and Beltran turned the ball over too much. Some
of Wingert's passes weren't even close. In my mind he seems to have
regressed somewhat. Maybe my expectations are just higher. Olave was a stud as
usual and I really liked Espindola's work rate. Yura too worked his tail
off when he was in the game and I think he wore the defense down, thus
benefitting Findley when he entered the game. I remember one sequence in
particular where Yura tracked all the way back to our own box to help out the
defense when our outside backs had both pushed up. Good effort all around, but
I hope we're a bit sharper against Toronto Saturday. I'd love to see
Bomma start the game. At least RSL is keeping things interesting!

"It's about time" is RIGHT!!! I'm so glad that ridiculous
NY monkey is off our backs! Two brilliant goals...none too early, I might add,
dear boys! That's how we do it, right?! Wait till the last three
games--rather the last 10 minutes of the last three games--to make it exiting!
Love it.
I'm stoked for the Colorado game. Hopefully it'll be prettier than last year's. Tear 'em up, boys! Go RSL!!!

No Andy needs to come off the bench. When he starts he gets exhausted much to
fast and then becomes a liability on defense. When he comes in around the 70-75
min he not only helps solidify the defense but he also helps sparks the offense.

If you are going to bash Mathis, please make sure you have a valid argument. I
keep reading how worthless he is yet when I look at the team stats, he is tied
for #2 on the team if goals and assists are each awarded 1 point. How is that
worthless?
I was at the game and recorded it at home as well. When I watched it I was able to better see that if our forwards would have been able to to knock in some of those early one-on-one chances, Mathis would have had a couple more assists. He had some fantastic passes.
A comment was made that Mathis would not have made that goal that Andy did. You are right, but only because if Andy would have been playing the whole game he would not have had the wheels to run like that at then end of the game either.
Bye-the-way. When Andy scored did you see the player bolt off of the bench, run down to the end line and congratulate Andy first. It was Clint.

Finally! The first 55 minutes the run of play was pretty evenly matched. RSLs
first touches would go right to the Pink Cows, neither team was very well
organized. The last 35 minutes RSL played like a team possessed. The
controlled the run of play and were unfortunate not to score more. Well done!
Now let's do it again but for 90 minutes this time and beat the Canadians,
eh! GO RSL!

2. Espindola goal was a clinically finish. You did not give it justice, shame on you.
3. What you think was a packed in Defense, was the result of very predictable, slow ball movement accompanied with delayed at best off ball movement, which allowed Red Bulls to get behind the ball and organize.
