Now don't botch it next week against Kearns!
WJ is one of the best 4A teams in the state. And yes I'm up this late, dang that Red bull.
4A...You would think they are a 4A or 3A team with their schedule but they are actually 5A...I know, you'd never know by who they play. Way to schedule those sure things coach.
Please go and schedule San Juan, South Sevier, Manti and any other 'small school' that thinks they can beat anyone in the state. Go out and CRUSH them.
That will help us all out. It helps you get more wins, and it shuts up the small schools. If they scored 67 on Payson, can you imagine what Bingham or Alta would do to one of those small schools that play with so much heart.
Nice scheduling coach!
I'm getting tired of having to defend WJ's schedule. It is brilliant. It doesn't make sense for them to schedule the toughest non region teams as they have to fight hard in region. They've lost a couple of games and now need to beat Kearns to be in the playoffs... so this Payson game gives them a boost of confidence before going into that game. And the young men get great memories of winning games regardless whether they're 2A or 3A...
I've said it before and I'll say it again. WJ and Bingham both have had very smart schedules this year.
Let's see if WJ can pull an upset in the first round
If your region was that tough that would make sense. Bingham is a great team, Riverton a good test but Kearns, Copper Hills and Taylorsville are terrible. Your schedule has not been as bad as people think (Provo is a good team this year but I doubt they were put on the schedule because that was the expectation) and PG is a top flight team. And though East was awful this year, they are usually a good program.
It's not the schedule I have issues with you over but your reasoning.
Bottom line is that you play the best to prepare yourself for the big dance. Bingham goes to Texas, Alta takes on both Bingham and PG, these are the games that will get you battle tested and ready for the playoffs. West Jordan's schedule is not as weak as people say in reality, but it is not strong either. WJ has had a reputation of fizzling in the playoffs so maybe the approach of having a few less wins but taking on the best might help your boys get ready for the playoffs rather than some big wins over inferior opponents which just breeds false confidence.
What is wrong with you people? Do you really have nothing better to do than rip on some high school football team's non region schedule? West Jordan is a middle of the road team and we know it. We don't have any delusions of grandeur, but we are not awful either. The coaches call each other before the season and try to fill spots in their schedules, there is no secret conspiracy by our coaches to play sub-par teams. Do you really think we were excited to drive to Payson during rush hour in the middle of the week? In a perfect world every team would play their exact perfect match every week, but obviously that is impossible. That is obvious to you isn't it? And by the way if any Payson fans are reading this, please don't pay any attention to these people who are inferring that you are not a good team. You scored 34 points! You have some great athletes on your team, and you fans were classy and gracious. Thankyou for a fun night and a very entertaining game.
Next up Park City Gremlin B Team. Maybe WJ can score 70 to improve their confidence.
Well said WJ Fan, I am right on board with you. I made the drive and got to see my freshman son play about 10 plays. Woopdy-doo! I still support our team regardless of what all the Bingham and Alta homers say....
TimM, I think that your son getting some varsity experience as a freshman could be important to the West Jordan program. By getting that experience, even against a team that's not in 5 A, he'll be better prepared to play varsity ball by his senior year.
If your son has some friends with athletic ability, I think your son should do his best to get them to join him. If West Jordan can get more athletes like your son out of the stands and onto the field their chances of winning ANY game should go up.
I'm as big a supporter of Bingham football as you can find, and I applaud your attitude and support of West Jordan football. It's always been a big rivalry for me because I was a student at Bingham when West Jordan opened. I'd like to see that competetive rivalry return. It would be a good thing for all involved. Keep up the good work, TimM and son!
Thanks for the support BT. You are right, we need more of the athletes in our school to play. Unfortunately it seems like there is something in the student culture at wj that keeps kids from trying out, or they want to play but not for wj. I remember a few years back the Langi boys wore Jaguar black, but they moved a few blocks south just so they could play for Bingham. Dont get me wrong, I dont blame them. Bingham has a great program and a great history, but it still sucks for us. Most of our great athletes either play basketball or play for another school.
okay so why are people bagging on wj? bingham every year has countless players while wj has to work from 40 players and about 10 seniors
We might be homers in your eye's, but us homer's run your Jag Ballers up, down, and over the field. From sophmore to varsity. Oh yeah, Bingham #1
