Terry has the smart approach and people should learn from that. I have made money in the real estate business using well founded buy and sell techniques. Contrary to what many think, I believe recessions are good for us collectively in that they force us to do reality checks in how we approach business and investments. They keep us honest and force us to get ourselves back in control. Obviously, recessions take their toll on most people in some way or other and there are plenty of innocent victims. But it is a sure fire way to keep the greedy and something for nothing type of people in check. In the end, all will be better for it.
