Utah QB situation... | 8:42 p.m. Oct. 13, 2009
is looking really good. Cain is a total stud and if he can stay healthy we can redshirt Wynn this year and give him valuable snaps next year when Cain is a Sr.
Go Utes!
Jordan | 10:29 p.m. Oct. 13, 2009
Awesome, who would have thought that cold hands turned the game around, huh? Ha ha, maybe they will be putting their hands in the Gatorade buckets from now on!
Go Utes. | 11:26 p.m. Oct. 13, 2009
Nice coaching Kyle! It takes a general to make that move. You see the guys huddling arond the heaters and not caring about the game and what do you do? Turn off the heat. Thats old-school. I love it.

Cain is emerging as the next great Utah QB. As he gets more comfortable with the offense and his receivers' capabilities, his stats will be even more impressive.
moose on the loose | 8:40 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Cain is emerging as the next great Utah QB.???

Like last years great QB? BTW, what is that last great QB doing now? ? ?
Re: moose on the loose | 9:03 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Not selling phones in the Orem mall like the last byu players uhumm QB I mean. Wasn't Young the last byu QB to actually PLAY in the NFL?

Thought so...silence.
Moose | 9:14 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009
I heard he's polishing his Sugar Bowl MVP and MWC Player of the Year trophies.
re: moose | 9:23 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Last years QB is writing for this paper, working in sports radio and working with the coaching staff at the U. Oh yeah he also has his picture on the cover of EA Sports College Football game.

How many QB's are currently in the NFL from your school?? I guess Collie is the only skill position player you have put in the NFL for a long time.

Even better - how many players have you put into the NBA??

keep talking, printing shirts etc.... we will just keep winning.

Go Utes!!!
re: moose on the loose | 9:40 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009
He is probably polishing his Sugar Bowl Ring!!!! What are you doing now???? maybe washing your byu intramural flag football t-shirt!!! I know for you guys its all about how you win games, for us its just about winning them and it seems to be working allright. 25 - 2 in our last 27 games o yeah and 8 straight bowl wins!!!!!
re: Moose on the loose | 10:01 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Not every QB makes it pro after college. Doesn't tarnish the legacy they leave. Poor Moose, still mad that your Broncos didn't get the BCS bid last year?

You're a whiner and a hater Moose.
Well Moose.... | 10:04 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009
While he is helping Cain fill his shoes, he probably thinks back to the butt whipping he gave the TDS, the Sugar Bowl win and deciding if he will pursue a pro career, get into radio or coaching.
Impressive | 10:29 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009
"[Cain] also leads the MWC quarterbacks in rushing."

Not bad. That title usually goes to whomever is under center at Air Force.

Just don't get injured.
Cougarf@n | 10:56 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009
When did John Beck get a job selling cell phones at university mall? I could have sworn he was making seven figures on an NFL roster for the third straight year. Not that Beck plays much, but I'd take even the league minimum to play 2nd/3rd string and be the next guy in if #1 went down. Better yet, I'd take tens of millions of dollars a year to be the biggest #1 pick flop in NFL history and ride the pine like Alex Smith.
Not Great | 11:45 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Not impressed at all. Cain looked awful at Oregon and missed easy passes down field. Anyone can look great against bad competition just ask BYU. Utah's offense was terrible for the majority of the SJSU and Colorado State game. Good thing Utah only faces one more good defense this year in TCU.
Don't mind Moose, | 11:46 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009
He is just a bitter little child who is angry that Utah has outshone his Broncos. He can't help it that he is a clueless imbecile. I am sure that he is hoping one day there will be a cure for stupid. Until then, he will continue to be bitter about his lack of any intelligence and will take it out on those her perceives as superior.
cougar alum.. | 12:17 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
What's wrong with selling cell phones @ the mall? I think its a great job.
Ute Fan | 12:39 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Sorry to break up the sophmoric love fest between all involved, I mean just get a room please.

Love BJ, but Cain is really a Dennis Dixon in Red, and I mean that as a serious compliment. He will go down on the short list at Utah.

Grosscup, Mitchell, McCoy, Smith, Johnson

Keep it up Mr. Cain.

Go Utes!!
RE: Moosenuckle | 12:47 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
"Like last years great QB? BTW, what is that last great QB doing now? ? ?"

I don't know probably staring on football video games and making 4x what you do, but hey that's OK society needs losers like you too.

Go Utes!!!
7 figures? | 1:11 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
7 figures for John Beck? 6 figures for sure, but 7? I heard only MLM superstars make 7 figures.
spoons44 | 1:14 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Considering the loosers we have had at QB, I would say Cain is doing ok. He has upside and will only get better. He looked bad at Oregon, but it was his third start and first against a team with a defence.

Arceneaux, Crosswhite, Rice, Crowshaw, Grady. We have been spoiled with Smith and Johnson, but compared with teh 5 listed above, I would take Cain anyday (probably better than Ratliff - another Utah QB who is making a paycheck in the NFL).
Utah Mann | 1:53 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
To bYu fans that think they can talk the NFL smack becuase they are awfull on the field.

How many QB's does bYu have in the league? Well guess what Utah has one more: Brett Ratliff, Alex Smith. So much for QBU, HAHAHAHA.

Face it Cain is a better QB than Maxi. Utah football is better than the little sister down south.

Zoobs are pathetic.

Go Utes
Cougarfan | 2:01 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Hey moose, don't diss brian johnson! He's more accomplished than any QB your broncos have ever had!
FYI | 2:17 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Moose is zoob who only poses as a BSU fan since the tdS has nothing on the Utes. The Utes have 2 BCS bowls and are 5-2 vs the "why?" in the last full recruiting cycle.

At least the Broncos made it to ONE BCS bowl, and beat us the last few times we played.

Until the tdS does anything of consequence in this century, they will always be taking a backseat to the top non-BCS schools of our era: Utah, TCU, and Boise St.

No zoobs!

Cain | 2:39 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Really seemed like things started kicking in for him the second half Saturday. Even the first drive that ended in a fumble was moving effectively down the field. Schramm seemed to turn the game over to Cain more, letting him go with the first play call instead of stopping and looking to the sidelines after the D had already aligned. They got a nice groove going and looked sharp.

Perhaps this was the point Terrance Cain became a DI QB. I think so, and we'll see it continue on Saturday.
Boise State Fan | 3:28 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Doesn't matter how great Cain is, the yewts will still end up in 4th place in the MWC.

Loses to A.F., TCU, BYU and maybe this week end.

Only my Broncos will break the BCS this year and would beat the yewts if we played you.

GO BOISE STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BSU WHO? | 4:37 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
BSU plays 1 BCS team this year and gets all of this hype. Why? Last year undefeated in reg. season get beat by TCU runner up in MWC. The blue turf is a cheap trick to play on the visiting team. It should be illegal, defense cant differentiate turf from ball carrier. Only team in country that does it. Gimmic field, a lot of gimmic plays. It is the only way they beat OU in their first and last BCS appearance. Very overrated!!
re: Boise State Fan? | 4:37 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Try zoob! The tdS has NO shot at a BCS Bowl this season, so you glom onto a team with really no rivarly with the Utes. Last year proved who was BCS worthy. TCU proved it wasn't the tdS or BSU. Utes take center stage. TCU enters stage right. BSU watches from the peanut gallery. ybU can't gain admission.

Gosh darn Bouncers.
Why? | 4:59 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Stop getting sucked into the troll that is Moose it's sad. Just ignore him and he'll go away. He, for some weird reason, gets his jollies off of firing people up.

C'mon don't give in and ignore.
Big Green Tractor | 5:35 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
If he was just as good, we would have beaten Oregon and still be undefeated. Cain is really good, certainly better than Max Hall haha, but come on. He isn't as good as Brian Johnson.

My $.02
re:Big Green Tractor | 5:59 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
I was there in BJ's first year playing D1. Cain is better. How did Johnson do his junior year? Cain still has anither year to play. At this point, he's better than BJ. Not trying to diss BJ, he was great
Hey Boise Fans | 9:01 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
I'm not sure I'd be talking too much smack tonight. The Broncos seem to be struggling pretty hard against an unranked team. Tulsa's looking like it has a chance. You know what happens if you lose -- no BCS bid for the Smurfs.
Re: Hey Boise Fans | 9:10 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Either way, it's not the win Boise State needed to impress the BCS and national media.

Hey Smurfies, even if you win, you lose!
Nice win Moose | 10:16 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
I think your Broncos really impressed the nation with their blowout victory against Tulsa.
Max Hall | 12:14 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
is the best quaterback in the country
@ Ute Fan... | 12:29 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
You forgot to add the following to your list...
Crosswhite
Aresenaeux
Stevens

Perhaps you can storm the field and tear down goalposts again after beating TCU.
BJ-Cain | 12:32 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
For a first year starter, I'd say Cain is miles ahead of where BJ was, who went 5-5 his first season as a starter. Comparing junior seasons, it's tough to compare since BJ was hurt the first part of the season. Record-wise, Cain is ahead, but BJ had that ability to pull a team together late in games: haven't seen that as much yet from Cain. He did help put San Jose State away, but threw a pick that thwarted a comeback against Oregon, and the D really stepped up to win the game against CSU.
Cain definitely has a better surrounding cast than BJ did his first year, and there was more continuity with the coaching staff (albeit not much) than after the last BCS win.
Cain is a perfect QB for the Ute system and he'll do a good job this year and next. I don't see a BCS run for him his senior year, but that won't be his fault: way too much gone on D next season. Good luck, except on Saturdays in late November.
Go Cougars.
BJ-Cain Comparison | 1:05 p.m. Oct. 15, 2009
Not a fair comparison. BJ's first year the team was desimated by guys leaving for the NFL. It was left to BJ to be the entire offense. If you remember, he was very successful at moving the team up and down the field, he was something like 5th in the nation in total offense when he got injured. He just wasn't able to get the ball in the endzone, and not turn it over.

Up until the second half Saturday, Cain had not been put in the situation to go win the game. He's been a manager, not a star. And that ploy has paid off. He didn't lose games for Utah like BJ did when he started. Cain has come along nicely, and actually seemed more comfortable Saturday without Asiata. Quicker backs are giving him more options on each play, and he's reacting more than just watching Matt run up the middle.

Cain could very easily do something BJ didn't, win 2 MWC titles, before he leaves. And then Jordan Wynn takes over and we'll see the Wynn/Heaps matchup for 3 years. Good times at the U.
re: John Beck and Alex Smith | 9:35 a.m. Oct. 16, 2009
So Smith is making $11.8 million and Beck is getting $796K???? Great, thanks for making me feel 11 million times worse for my team's decision to waste their #1 draft pick that year.

Signed,
49ers Fan
