Gee I wonder if the TARP and Stimulus bail outs from Bush and Obama are actually working? Thank you Senators Bennett and Hatch for voting against any help from either President.

Trillions of dollars wasted. A couple dollars invested. Not a good return. TEA is a terrible forecaster. Plan on more pain during this long, self-inflicted and embarassing recession.

Okay, all those who believe that so-called reform will improve healthcare or reduce overall costs, irrespective of "end of life" decisions, in their health care and simultaneously insure their right to life-extending health care based on their current premiums... raise your hands!

Deceiving report. | 3:53 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009
It would sure be nice if we had news media that would investigate these reports before printing them verbatim from the writers and imply this is good news.

What's more important than any number of jobs becoming available is how much the workers hourly wages will be. Replacing a $25 dollar an hour job with a $10 and hour job does not equate to an improvement. Citing an average income is misleading because they are counting the CEO's earnings in with the workers earnings and we all know how many millions they make. Averaging a million dollar salary with a ten dollar wage sure paints a pretty picture for the politicians in Utah.

Then there is the fact that the majority of these jobs will go to illegals who do not pay or file tax returns and live very comfortable on a tax free income.

This flat line economy will continue with occasional blips that economist call an improvement. Then you have to factor in higher taxes, more job losses, and inflation which is double digit before calling it good.

I agree with DReport...alot of truth said and maybe, just maybe those DNews quoted ought to live in our world of $10 an hour...if you have lost your job and you got another one, chances are you are making less today..

Your assumption contains a commmon mistake: Mistaking correlation for causation. You're assuming - without evidence - that the stimulus is responsible for the economy improving.

What you're saying is akin to saying that because 98% of cancer victims drink milk, that milk causes cancer. Correlation does not equal causation - any scientist will tell you that.

2007 was the first we heard of the impending recession. Economists predicted how deeply it would go and how long it would last and how many jobs would be lost. This was LONG before any discussion of stimulus packages. And do you know when they said the nation would begin adding jobs? Q1 2010.....and this is EXACTLY what's happening.

So the evidence is telling us that the economy is no better because of the stimulus. The spending did nothing to improve the forecasted situation, and therefore it was a waste, like most of us said it was.

"Utah's economy seems poised to climb out of its doldrums"...must be time for a tax increase.
I agree with this headline | 9:48 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009
Then again, the economy also may not improve...
What a crock | 1:35 p.m. Oct. 14, 2009
I vote that we give more money to AIG so they can provide more outrageous bonus to their undeserving, overpaid executives. That should help the economy...

Interesting, thoughtful predictions, but can we have some concrete projections? Specifically, which companies and organizations are likely to create these jobs?

I wonder what will become of all those construction workers after the new City Creek Center in downtown Salt Lake is complete?
