alway fun to see the new guys get signed as they might be a diamond in the rough and turn out to be a good player. like to see wes and goran get a chance here. would that be something to see almond become a starter and great shooter for another team. i could not understand why the jazz brass didn't like him. i understand he was the best shooter in the draft he was drafted.

has potential because he is solid fundamentally. He also can shoot but it may take a year or two for that to emerge at the NBA level.

I would say that the biggest question is about his quickness. That may be a result of reaction time to a faster game. As he learns the system and the pace better that should improve.

If he is quick enough he could emerge as a PF/C with real power as he has bulk.

Suton has to show me something before he makes the team. Unfortunately, I think he missed his opportunity.
Wes Matthews looks to be the guy...

Can you think of a better preparatory system for the Jazz than Izzo's Spartans? Suton is probably already a better defender than Koufos and Fez because he played under Izzo. He might be worth keeping, just for defense.

Fossil,

"would that be something to see almond become a starter " the chances of that happening are as remote as having AK and Korver learn anything good from Jeff Hornacek who has managed to screw up their shots.

Almond went to several othe teams including the Knicks where the directive from the coach is shoot first and we will question you later. He could not even make it on that team.

Do you rmember Carlos Arryo, who could dribble better than most NBA PG's. He could dribble and that was his talent. He could not pass or see a play develop, nor shoot consistently. Single dimension players have not been popular since the days of Michael Jordan where they had Dennis Rodman there to mop up the rebounds and for no other reason.

If Almond wants to start he needs to go back to D league or else some European team. Play is too competitive in the NBA to have such a defensive liability on the court.

What is Boozers trade value? This past offseason there were rants and raves about how if Jazz kept Boozer they were trading in the seasons tickets.

I for one am glad we have Carlos back as he is a man on the court whereas I have not missed the fairweather fans. Boozer is a star in the NBA, and if we trade him we should get the same in return or else we should keep him. He provides fits and mismatches for most defenses and there in is his usefulness to the Jazz, that and his double doubles nightly.

Unless Boozer gets hurt this year, he will be back in a Jazz uniform next year.

I think that Boozer will try very hard and have a good year, if only to raise his value. Remember Oystergag did the same thing , got a contract extension then fell asleep on the bench. Boozer should perform really well, if only for the spotlight.

@ trade value

I think right now Boozer is in a holding pattern, but once the season gets going, if he stays healthy, he could be very valuable due to the fact that he is an All-Star calliber PF with a fairly large expiring contract and whoever gets him also gets Bird rights.

the last rumor I heard was that was how the Jazz have been viewing him all summer...basically telling teams that he is a 20/10 All-Star PF and if they wanted him they'd better be willing to pay All-Star level $$$$ for him. Obviously they weren't going to get that or Boozer would have opted out, but I think as the season goes on Boozer is going ot look more and more attractive to alot of teams.
