East High Leopards

Team: Don't think about the rankings until we win the next four games. We can do this! Let's show the State and let's start with Mountain View!

Dart 4 life

Davis will equal the state champions. Region 1 is as solid as they come in the upper half, Darts will prevail.

Talk

The brackets are out the playoffs are about to begin, no need for anymore talk. This isn't the BCS teams will actually prove it on the field.

#20 ? Waterford?

Let me get this straight...on Saturday, Waterford loses to 3A Wasatch, who by no means can be mistaken for a soccer power, and they are still ranked in the top 20?

Are there just not enought good 5A, 4A, and 3A teams to fill out the top 20?

RE: dropped out

when was viewmont ever in the top 20?

Go Region 6

Good luck to all of Region 6 Teams. You all have tough draws but you have played the best this year. Let's all meet in the qaurterfinals.
For those detractors say nothing until we are not all there.

Waterford

I don't understand either why Waterford still in the top 20. I guess they have a love affair with the media because for so many years of complaining about moving down to 2A from 3A, then moving back to 3A and again to 2A this year. I guess they found out that the grass is not any greener in the other side. Also, the 2A classification championship is not going to be a walk on the park for them either. I think Waterford has a 50% chance to win the State Championship this year. 2A has some quality teams now, and they can play with any school in any classification.

Re: Waterford

Maybe you should amend your comment to say 'they can play with some schools in any classification.' Guaranteed they would get blown out against the top 3A, 4A, and 5A teams.

One Who Knows

Waterford would have much preferred to stay 3A and defend their championship. The UHSAA saw it differently. The reality is that Waterford will not have a competitive game until the State Championship game. So as one of two teams in the championship, I guess that means they have a 50% chance. St. Joe's also has an excellent team that would compete well in 3A. The southern teams have yet to prove themselves. If one of them beats Waterford or St. Joe's they will have arrived. The tournament will tell.

Re: One Who Knows

Waterford MAY have preferred to stay in 3A for girls soccer but NOT for ALL sports. It's all or none with UHSAA. You COULD have stayed in 3A ... Skyline should be in 4A but has petitioned to stay in 5A for years.

Re: Re:One Who Knows

Where does all that venom come from. It's just high school girls soccer. The worst that could happen is they might beat a lesser team.

Re: Re:One Who Knows | 3:33 p.m

venom ? Why are you reading the comments that way ? All CAPS don't always indicate anger or 'venom' sometimes they are there just for emphasis. How do you interpret hateful 'venom' in these comments ?

Go Region 4

Not sure I agree with East being bounced to the top. Their record is certainly impressive, perhaps Alta's tie with Brighton was the reason.

Talking is over, now it is down to the nitty gritty.

As for the top 20, I think the person who does these ratings, is actuall a human interest writer, becasue there is simply no way that any 3A teams are better than some of the 4A and 5A teams which are left off the list. Is The Snow College football team better than either BYU or Utah. Not a chance, yet there are many times they have a better record. This is the difference between the D-1 and lower schools. The exact same thing applies to the 5A and 4A teams when compared to those in the lower divisions.

Not to say they are not good, and would likely be able to compete in some games, but they are not tested week in and week out with quality big time players like the other regions.

Sorry Polsters....You need to look at more than just a teams record.

Re: One Who Knows

It appears that you have already placed Waterford and St Joe's in the 2A State Championship Game......don't count your chickens yet

To Region 4 homer above

You saying that Judge and Juan Diego aren't good enough to compete with 4A and 5A teams?

Tell that to the 4A and 5A teams they beat or tied this season. I'm sure Skyline, Sky View, Bingham, Jordan, Logan and others would argue that Judge and Juan Diego are competitive with 4A and 5A. Last year, Park City had no trouble beating 4A and 5A opponents. And Waterford and St. Joseph also have beaten several 4A and 5A teams over the years.

Get out of your 5A bubble and pay attention to results. Soccer talent isn't exclusive to the just 4A and 5A. Some of the best teams in the state play in lower classifications.

Juan Diego

Will win state easy start engraving the trophy now!.

James

Many ex-Judge, Juan Diego and Park City players are now on college soccer teams, so there is plenty of talent on smaller school clubs. However, top-to-bottom, 5A and 4A high schools have better teams, more depth and tougher schedules. But, after watching hundreds of high school matches, I'm convinced that, on a great day, Rowland-Hall could beat East--just not on a regular basis. It would be fun to have an 8-team springtime charity tournament with the top two teams from each class...just to see how they measure up.

Rowland Hall

Could never beat East. They would get scrapped year in and year out

Re: Rowland Hall

I was using that as an example. You may have missed my point...read the entire entry. Geez, take it easy.

Never? You just said never? This is funny to hear how good East is and how great they are. Drop them to 3A and guess what, they have just as many state titles under their belt in girls soccer as they do now. Year in and year out East does not have a great team, so just be quiet. They do not win the state title this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!
