Thanks DNews for a great article...Great kids, great coach, great community..Hope a 5A school doesn't try to swoop in and steal Mcallister away. Keep up the hard work team and you will hoist that gold trophy on the shoulders of those who have come before.

It is a pleasure to see South Sevier's growth and see them become "WINNERS". That is a great Tradition and it becomes an attitude that will follow and assist them through life. Good luck in continuied SUCCESS, on and off the field! Keep up the good work Coaches and Team!

s sevier will never take state in football. fact and bottom line.
John Chisum | 6:14 a.m. Oct. 12, 2009
Bob,

Why do you think that the rams will not take state?
bob 2 | 7:57 a.m. Oct. 12, 2009
no one knows if they will take state or not but one thing is they will most likely have to go through south summit in the semis and that is a tall test for anyone. pack a lunch and come prepared rams.
Re John Chisum | 8:02 a.m. Oct. 12, 2009
Bob let me answer that. They have peaked to soon! And tradition will soon repeat itself.
South Summit Fan. | 8:02 a.m. Oct. 12, 2009
I doubt with one winning season that a 5A school will "steal" the coach, it takes a longer tradition then one winning season, not to mention South Sevier is still a far cry from winning the state championship, still have South Summit, San Juan and potential Kanab again. Keep winning South Sevier, then you can play South summit in the play offs and really get tested.
12 team division | 9:02 a.m. Oct. 12, 2009
12 teams in class 2A football does that count as a champinship.
Anonymous | 9:17 a.m. Oct. 12, 2009
put several years of winning seasons together then we can talk about a good program! Great this year, what about last year and next year?
Anonymous | 9:38 a.m. Oct. 12, 2009
I haven't been to any ss games. so I was wondering why their last two games were so close?
RE: 12 team division | 9:39 a.m. Oct. 12, 2009
No but it does count as a CHAMPIONSHIP! Don't take away from the 2A schools accomplishments because there is only so many schools that size.
re: 12 team division | 10:05 a.m. Oct. 12, 2009
Pretty niave about 2a. You have no idea what goes into a single 2a program, and 1a too. It takes an entire community for each and every program - not just a small sector, like in the big school. Why do you think all of the comments on these blogs are so passionate about the 2a teams? So niave, you have no idea.
bigchiefnez | 10:07 a.m. Oct. 12, 2009
i agree with south summit fan because south sevier dosen't have the wepons that south summit and san juan have to go deep in the playoffs.
re: Anonymous | 10:38 a.m. Oct. 12, 2009
Yes, part of building a great program is just that...BUILDING. South Sevier has been BUILDING a great program and will continue to try and do that. FYI, they had a winning season last year, going 6-4. (Which is better than South Summit's 5-5, by the way.) It's not like they were 0-10 last year and are doing this out of the blue. No, they don't have any State Championships. Does that mean they will never be good enough to accomplish that? No way. South Summit doesn't have any 2A championships either. And the fact that San Juan and Millard have accomplished that in the past doesn't make them any more qualified to win one THIS YEAR. (Look at North Summit!)
There are SEVERAL teams this year that could take state. Isn't it great? I, personally, am enjoying a year with so much great competition in both regions. It's great that not a single team dominates...every game has to be well fought.
Congrats to South Sevier for accomplishing something never before done in school history. There's definitely a first time for everything!

Holy Cow Manti Leaves 2A and everything goes insane!
to: amy | 11:16 a.m. Oct. 12, 2009
calm down. all I said is that a great program is a program with consecutive winning years. Not 1. SS is having a great year, they have great senior athletes. Look close at their record the last 5-7 years, then decide if you should use the word building. Your basketball program is one that can have the title "great program", again, look at their record over the last 5 years and you'll understand. Good luck to SS this year, although I think the semi's is the end for them. And to be called a great program we'll see what happens the next few years.

Since the playoffs are coming up its time to let you all know of the amazing runs we have had in the past. The playoffs is what highlights the rams dynasty. We are 0-4 in the playoffs since 1989. Here are the teams we played and the scores of those games.

1993 Lost to Grantsville 28-0
2001 Lost to Manti 8-7
2005 Lost to Manti 37-14
2008 Lost to Coalville 52-29

We gave up a total of 125 points which is roughly 31 points a game. We scored a total of 50 points which is roughly 13 points a game. With an average margin of defeat around 18 points. RAMS FOR LIFE!!

Congrats to the rams on their season. I was wondering though if Enterprise wins on friday how is the three way tie for first handled?
Re: SS | 12:05 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
If Enterprise wins on Thursday (the game will be played Thursday instead of Friday due to Enterprise's fall break) there will be a three-way tie between South Sevier, Millard and Enterprise. They will flip for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
RE: SS | 12:07 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
coin toss
re: ss | 12:25 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
So, there isn't really a Region Champ? There is a three way tie for Region Champ, if S. Sevier loses?
Coin Toss | 12:44 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
Three Headed Coin?
JD Books | 1:04 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
I wouldn't worry about the coin toss...South Sevier is battle tested and has had some adversity the last two weeks which will serve them well this week. They will be region champs and will show the naysayers who don't think they have talent that Wilson to Bishoff is special.
Coin Toss works like this... | 1:09 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
...all three coaches will flip a coin at the same time...this is usually done over a conference call with plenty of witnesses etc. Odd coin out gets the #1 seed. The other two go to head to head record to decide 2nd and 3rd. So if Millard flips heads and so does Enterprise and SS flips tails SS will be #1 in the region Millard #2 and Enterprise #3. Its pretty simple.
Re: SS | 1:13 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
South Sevier should be used to having to share a trophy in football.
Re: coin toss | 1:16 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
I will try not to make this sound confusing. So how it works is three people representing each school will flip a coin. now say one person got heads and the other two got tails. the person that got heads would get the #1 spot. then the two people that got tails would flip one coin for the #2 and #3 spot. Im pretty sure thats how it works.
Wolves Fan | 1:48 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
Our EHS Wolves had a stumble Friday vs. MHS. Those Eagles came to play and unfortunately our boys did not. I would like to see that game when both teams bring their A-game. But that is why we play the games, and the best teams show up to every game. Good luck this Thursday Wolves, lets beat SS.

i'd like to kick the guy that writes the South Sevier Tribute right in the .... , yeah we haven't a great history in the past, but the past is the PAST, give us a break we are doing something that has never been done in our school,
SS RAMS | 2:10 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
Great article, great team and great coach, and in about a months time a great football championship. There really isnt anyone that can hang with us. This is our year and it is over for everyone else.
RE: ss | 2:28 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
Well you know what? There are about 500 people that would like to kick JD Books. I bet you South Sevier Tribut is giving JD Books a little bit of his own medicine.
Re:ss | 2:29 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
wahahahaha
Please WOLVES | 2:42 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
Beat S. Sevier, so we don't have to hear it anymore. UGH.... It is so OLD.
There's only one... | 2:48 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
...coin toss. To determine the #1 seed. The 2nd and 3rd seeds are decided by those teams head to head record.
It might happen | 2:54 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
2A has lost all the credibility that it once had and it now reminds me of 1A football. You now have only two programs that have a rich tradition in football: San Juan and Millard. With that said, Amy is right (and I bet this Amy's last name starts with a Mc not a D) the time is right for programs to step up and sieze the moment. South Sevier and South Summit are certianly making the first run at it. Success will breed success and if things stay the same in 2A football, look for a couple of programs to develop. However, if Juab and Manti come back down, get ready for a resume your losing ways!!
John Chisum | 2:58 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
SS Tribute has ever right to tear down SS football past teams. At least JD Brooks is positive about this years team and a realist about past SS teams. In the posts that I have read from JD Brooks he is pretty spot on about 2A football. I am a casual fan and have not lived in the area for long but I think JD Brooks has helped to breathe life in the fan base down here and let others know about SS football. The fact that 500 people may want to kick JD Brooks tells you that he is a lightning rod.

Long live JD Brooks!
Long live JD Brooks | 3:07 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
Long Live JD Brooks!!! But I must admit I want you to do it in Monroe not in my home town.
EHS FAN2 | 3:08 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
This article is a good article. South Sevier derserves this tribute after many years finishing out of championship contention. Why are you all trying to rain on their parade? Give them some credit. I'am not sure if Enterprise can keep up with them thursday or not. But it's been great seeing our kids do as well as they have. GO WOLVES! GO 2A FOOTBALL!
I think | 3:16 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
JD Books, pb&j, John Chisum and South Sevier Tribute is all one person just trying to get a rise out of everyone. That is what I think
JD Books | 3:28 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
With out a doubt South Sevier shall hoist the Golden Trophy. Wilson to Bishoff is unstopable. We had a bad game agianst Kanab and still won. South Summit and San Juan can not say that, they both have a loss. This teams destiny is to win a championship. No one will even score on our first team defense the rest of the year. We don't need tradition to win this year we have destiny on our side. We are starting a new tradition and will become the program to beat. To everyone who says we are in a weak region I beg to differ. The best teams in 2A are

1. South Sevier
2. Millard
3. Kanab
4. Enterprise
5. South Summit
S. Sevier | 3:29 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
You aren't San Juan and you aren't Millard. I think we would all just like to see a little humility until you actually do something worth talking about.
"Stiff Arm" poet | 3:30 p.m. Oct. 12, 2009
"It might happen", your message is clear
Juab and Manti could bring the fear.

Until you return to the 2A class,
We'll look for you in the 3A bottom half.

Didn't there was a 2A ladder?

Now San Juan is out of your top 5. You are really getting rediculous with your comments. Its actually quite embarrassing for us real South Sevier fans.

To, I think...I don't know the others in your post but we true SS believers appreciate their support.

This is an authorized post. To the fake JD Books...yes SS will hoist the golden trophy but your top five is slightly wrong.

1. South Sevier
2. Millard
3. Kanab
4. South Summit
5. San Juan
