Keeping the extremists that are his power base happy isn't going to get him elected in a state wide election. Enjoy your time in the office while it lasts Governor.

Herbert will lead the charge that smacks education around. Watch him cut 5 to 10 percent from their budget this year just for starters. Huntsman, we miss you already.

Does Peter Corroon have to disclose this "news article" as a campaign contribution?

Dude, articles that are pro-Corroon practically write themselves. He's a good man and a fiscal conservative in the ways republicans used to be. Vetoed a tax increase. Stood up to the Salt Lake Real stadium fiasco, which I, as a republican, appreciated.

It would be tough to write a Herbert article showing how Herbert has jumped on the scene and taken the state by storm as governor. It just would be, because it's not true. The jury is still out. At the same time, it would be tough to write an article about Corroon that doesn't show him as a popular elected official (with both parties) in Salt Lake County who may have a real opportunity this next election.

I run with a moderate republican crowd. You right wingers may not even consider me a repub, even though in every other place I have lived I have been the most conservative person I know. But no one I know would vote for Herbert over Corroon.

Governor Herbert has been very clear that getting our economy back on track is his first priority. He's put together the best economic development team the state has ever seen, he's put together an All-Star team to tackle budget issues, and he is getting around the state listening to small and large business owners. To me this is the real job of the Governor.

Dealing with new reporters about "ethics" creates jobs for journalists. But to me his actual stand on those issues--irrevelant.

Death to Education: Huntsman gave money to education because the economy was strong, Herbert will do the same once we get the economy back on track.

This article from the Des News on Governor Herbert is fairly consistent with everything I've seen and heard on Governor Herbert since he took over. I would recommend the Governor stop listening to his advisors and political consultants, and stop worrying so much about "building consensus," and start leading. You can't play defense all 60 minutes and win the football game, at some point you've got to play some offense and go for the end zone.

To "RE: Paid Advertising" --

"A fiscal conservative in the way Republicans used to be..." ?

Utah has been repeatedly named the Best Managed State in the Nation. That's been accomplished through fiscally conservative Republican leadership. Nobody's perfect but being the best ought to count for something with objective-minded people.

This article is reporting a potential story if at some later point he doesn't take a stand. As of now it doesn't sound like there's anything wrong here. He gathers the information, and then makes a decision.

That's better than someone who makes a decision without information, or who has a lot of information and makes no decision. Good job Gary

if you're really, really rich, vote for herbert. he'll keep your taxes low.

if you feel that you can send all your children and your children's children to private school, vote for herbert; he'll keep your taxes low.

if you have no compassion for elderly persons who can no longer support themselves, and were unable to amass a fortune to retire on, vote for herbert; he'll keep your taxes low.

if you personally and everyone you love or care about will always be able to drive their own vehicle everywhere they go and will never need public transit vote for herbert; he'll keep your taxes low.

if you feel that you and your family will always have plenty of health care coverage, even after you are unable to work, then vote for herbert; he'll keep your taxes low.

yes, our state has a long history of fiscal responsibility. we also have a reputation for being hypocritical as a group, professing Christian family values, but grossly underfunding human services.
