The article says that genetic mutations contribute to autism susceptibility. What causes these mutations?

Gross prematurity is one of the greatest risk factors to autism diagnosis. The earlier we "rescue" these babies, the greater the likelihood of autism diagnosis. We historically have been concerned with lung development for prematurity but never considered that brain development outside the womb might be so problematic.

how I, my son, and my grandson could become a part of a study on this. Our grandson has Aspergers, and both my son and I share some of the characteristics.

Umm. Prematurity? The only one of my sons who DOESN'T have autism was the one who was premature.
