Delegates haven't been chosen yet. Of course they are uncommitted.

Yes, you are of course correct. But about half of the delegates get re-elected year after year.

Finally, this column has lost ALL credibility.

If the ethics initiative will cause some of the current legislature not to run for relection I am for it.

Personally I do not believe their statement that it will cause them not to run for reelection.

They like the power. prestigue and I feel awkward saying it the insurance benefits from serving two terms. How crase of me. Right?

The article clearly states "prospective" delegates. Hope nothing was damaged in that knee jerk.
"deep intelligence"? | 2:23 p.m. Oct. 11, 2009
Well, I guess those to whom Bishop panders would consider him intelligent.

But only them.

I personally think ethics reform is overblown. I personally don't think a Jazz game here and a supper there have much impact on votes. I would rather encourage more people to run than put roadblocks in the way. Some people will always question our elected officials regardless of whether there is an enhanced ethics bill or not... it's been that way since the beginning of our country. I think the key is for our elected officials to make sure those who can't offer "perks" have equal opportunity to provide input. Also, don't assume that lobbyists are all bad... they serve an important role in providing background information that may not be available otherwise. I think most Legislators understand that the information is biased because of its source. I guess I just wish we would learn to respect our elected officials rather than constantly taking potshots at them. I expect few of the naysayers are stepping forward to run for office themselves.
