Why do we need an lds business college in utah if this is truly a worldwide church with equal opportunity for all. The LDS college in New Zealand was recently closed on the basis that the same education was available by the state.

Does not the same apply to the LDS college in utah. Why should the tithing of poor members worldwide go to support those who are much better off.

"How much we do for so few and how little we do for so many." These are not my words but those of Elder Eyring when an Apostle. He also said speaking of BYU Idaho

“The tithing of the people I just visited in South America and from good people all over the world paid for this facility. And most of the people who have made this beautiful facility possible will never see or step foot in a building like this. That is what I am thinking about.”

The church needs to be careful of privileged few
don't get all the benefits.

Walk the halls of LDS Business College, and you will see that young people from all over the world are filling them, and having amazing growth and learning experiences. Be patient . . . Once we have this down, there may again be institutions modeled on it in far-flung places.

Be part of the solution, not just a complainer or critic.

Will someone hand me a tissue, I think I am about to cry myself laughing. LDS Business College will inaugurate John Lawrence Richards as its 12th president. The LDS Church is NOT a business. That's not how Jesus Christ runs HIS church. Perhaps it's time then Obama should bring back the draft, if for anything else, to clean up our gene pool in America, of young skulls full of mush mashed couch potatoe's raised on energy drinks drug's and video games, that think they know it all because they googled it, and still all wet behind the ears, to rid America of all these social ill's. We really don't need a PAID lds business college in utah if this is truly a worldwide church with equal opportunity for all. That's my view.

I am from South American and graduated from LDSBC few years ago. I am sorry to hear some people don't understand how much good the college does to people like me to get a degree in 2 years that helped me to land a better job instead of pursuing a 4 year degree since I didn't have the time neither the resources. I am and will always be grateful to LDSBC. I am tithing payer and am glad some of that money goes to the Church Educational System which includes The Perpetual Fund.

I congratulate Brother Richards in his new call. He was my teacher and enjoyed and learned from every single one of his classes. He is an extraordinary educator and amazing human being.

Chuck could you please identify that rant as weeping, wailing or nashing of teeth?

I graduated from LDSBC and am very grateful for that education. I went to the U after and feel that LDSBC was a superior place to the U. Luckily I am now at the Y and owe it to LDSBC for preparing me. Love that school and am happy for our new president.

Chuck and Anonymous,

I'd appreciate it if you did your homework before you comment on something you know very little about. LDS Business College brings thousands of students from over 80 different countries and gives them a 2-year education so they can go back to their country and contribute to their economy.

I wouldn't have had the opportunity to receive an education and contribute to my country if it hadn't been for LDS Business College. This institution exists in order to give an equal opportunity for all, no matter what country you're from.

President Richards is a fantastic leader and will do very well in this position. I congratulate him!

I thank God every day for LDS Business College.

Do your business and tax homework. A non profit company can still have cash inflow (revenue) and expenses (cash out flow). i will gladly pay 10% of my earnings to help people obtain higher education and go back to their county and contribute to their economy... for profit business or non profit business.

I was not a student at LDSBC, but I am sure it was less expensive than the U or the Y or Weber or USU, or Westminster.

Go back to your cell at the point of the mtn.

To Francois: Maybe you should thank God for the faithful who contribute their hard earned pennies so that the Church can keep this place running. No disrespect intended.

The LDS College in New Zealand was actually a high school. Australia & New Zealand refer to them as such. Advanced education beyond high school (college) is referred to as 'university.' Comparing them to LDSBC is inaccurate.

I attended the Inauguration of President Richards today. It was a great experience. I was most impressed to look out over the audience and see students from all over the world. Included in the relatively small student body of 1,600 students, there are students from all 50 states and 60 countries. This school truely has an international mission.

I add my congratulations to Pres.Richards on his new position. After having known Pres Richards for over 40 years I feel confident in saying that LDSBC is in good hands. These are difficult times in the educational arena and his job will not be an easy one. Pres.Richards will be up to the task.
