Food co-op trying to attract investors

Investors or scam. | 4:09 a.m. Oct. 9, 2009
I like the idea of a Co-op that looks to Utah and its home grown foods to support Utah, but they are doing it wrong. The members only shopping is a turn off and has a very high membership fee that sounds more like a scam than a proper business. This kind of store should be open to the public with no membership fees and stop calling for investors.

There is a market for a store like this but it should be more of a minimal profit organization type business. Then there is the problem of most of the foods being seasonal in Utah except for maybe meats and a butcher shop that could be the basis to operate for non seasonal operating expenses.

And of course, it cannot be in SLC or anywhere near the downtown, that is a sure way to kill a new Co-op.
