Sure! Let's have more government regulation. Everyone knows there is no corruption in Washington and all politicians always have the people's best interest at heart. Especially Barney Frank, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd, Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee. They were so good at regulating Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, I want them more involved in the financial regulations of this country. Wouldn't that be great!

Barney Frank and Chris Dodd are the architects of the colossal failure that they created with their subprime mortgage schemes, then the foolishness of allowing Fannie and Freddie to buy the worthless mortgages. And, then Dodd managed to get sweetheart mortgage deals for himself.

ANY scheme they support is undoubtedly just plain bad policy, if not outright corruption and thievery.

Even Jim Matheson better stand up and oppose this one!

It is imperative that we have consumer protection laws but I think it would be easier to repeal and change existing laws. The most important change that should be made is making all banks and lenders responsible and remain holders of their own accounts and services.

Where Utah has made the consumers the fall guy and block every legal access consumers have for disputes and problems in an account we need some federal protections. Like the payday lending loan sharks who can charge 500% interest plus fees on small loans. States like Utah are unwilling to enact consumer laws so this is why the federal government is stepping in. They are trying to stop lenders from using debts as cash accounts to trade and barter with.

Lenders are using a shell game of hiding accounts from consumers. The system of the past was a failure and it needs drastic change that banks don't like.

Our economic crash was not because of the financial industry, it was because business was borrowing and not using its earnings to operate their business.

Too much debt and no reserve money was and still is the cause of the economic crash.

Responsibilities 4:32, Sheila Bair, head of the FDIC, recently said that 85% of the junk mortgages were made by unregulated mortgage companies. The article said that the producers of 90% of the subprime and other predatory loans would remain unregulated under this bill. It's just a bad bill.

I agree with the need to regulate the unregulated mortgage companies who were responsible for so much of the problem. This bill leaves a vast sector of the consumer finance products market unregulated. But what do you expect from Barney Frank, who said Fannie and Freddie were sound two weeks before they collapsed?

All I had to read was, "Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., and Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn.", and I knew it was a bad idea!
