You'd think that if it were true, the mormon church would have done this 14 years ago in 1995 when the internet first started taking off.

Too little too late.

You are a hoot Levi....always the first to make a snide comment, yet always reading the LDS news. One of these days it will sink in and you will join us in being a happy, fulfilled person. You are so uninformed and sad.

@Levi: Isn't it sad that people who are so unhappy have to reach that hard. Really sad.

Your comment looks more like a temper tantrum to me--sound familiar??

If the LDS Church is a topic people's hatred comes out. Mormons can't be accountable for any of these people's reactions. They just don't get it. They must be uninformed.

"Church using the net to their advantage' This could work to their disadvantage. ..."but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the "Holy Spirit." (Mt 1:18 NIV)Bibical answer.
Mormon response; Jesus is the son of an exalted man not the Holy Spirit. (historical answer)

Am I right on this or not?

RE: Cats | 9:25 a.m. Oct. 8, 2009 I don't know what bible you are reading but it states that the sprit holy spirit descended on Mary conceived a child my God. Also in the Bible our Lord stated that "as we are now god once was and as god is you can become" go back and read your bible and you should find this and may more answers and then ask god with real intent and you will receive your answer as those of the LDS faith have found out many, many times when seeking answers to questions of the bible.

Your study and comprehension of the New Testament is bereft of breadth and depth. All you have to do is read the Book of John and all of Paul's epistles, and the message is incontrovertibly plain: Jesus Christ is the Son of God. As the Son of God, Jesus had a Divine Father and a mortal mother. If you study the New Testament with that foundational doctrine in mind, you will see just how unique Jesus' parental inheritance was and why it was absolutely essential that He have a Divine Father and mortal mother. As the Son of a mortal mother, He inherited the capacity to be tempted. As the Son of a Divine Father, he inherited complete power over all temptations. As the Son of a mortal mother, he inherited the capacity to experience pain, hunger, thirst, and fatigue. As the Son of a Divine Father, He inherited the capacity to bear the burden of all our sins and infirmities. As the Son of a mortal mother, he inherited the capacity to die. As the Son of a Divine Father, He inherited power over death. All of that is contained within the lids of the New Testament.

To SFC RET DENNIS,
I think you should find your Bible quotes before you use them. there are relevant quotes in the Bible to the discussion, and I support your position, but the quote you give is not in the Bible.
Jesus Christ is the son of God the Father. How is he God the Son otherwise. The answer to the question of how the Holy Spirit comes in is that Mary needed to be transfigured to be able to endure the presence of the father.
That said, the 9:25 commentator is not being honest about where the disagreement is. The issue they have is about the nature of God, not about which member of the Godhead is the father of Jesus Christ. There is areement between Nicean and Latter-day Saint Christians that Jesus is the son of God the Father (the Community of Christ and the Toscanoites seem to hold other positions, but we will ignore them, they have not thrown their views into this discussion), the question is does God the Father have a body of Flesh and bone. One answer is, what did Jesus do with his body?

YPu can arugue over interpretation until blue in the face,

JEsus, himself, said he is the Son of God.

When was found in the temple by parents, as a child, did he not say we doing the work of his father?

In Matthew 16 Jesus asks:

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

IT is QUITE clear WHO Jesus says he is,

he NEVER said he God the Father, but his SON, the SON, literally, of God.

In some ways the opening of the article makes it seem the Church is changing course more than it really is. It was in the fall of 2001, a full 8 years ago, that the Church launched Mormon.org, and it was in 1999 (or earlier) that the Church launched familysearch. So the Church had been running online sites besides lds.org for years. There are a lot more of late, but those who act like the Church has been doing nothing besides lds.org are woefully misinformed, or willfully hateful.

My friend, I'm active LDS, and the Bible does not state "as we are now god once was and as god is you can become." Lorenzo Snow said that.

Sure, there are verses in the Bible that can be taken that way, like when Jesus prays to the Father (ahem) in John 17 that his followers would receive the same glory his Father gave him, but the statement you quoted is from an LDS leader, not the Bible.

I say respectfully that you have thrown red meat to the wolves.

SFC RET DENNIS illustrates the kind of mormon mental muddle that is so common. The myths and fables are so intertwined with scripture in the minds of mormons that they can't even keep it straight!

But the days of being able to change your stories are gone. The Internet now keeps a running record of all the statements of LDS Church leaders, and now video clips as well. They are easily accessible, unlike the Journal of Discourses, or other obscure quotes such as the one naively offered by SFC RET DENNIS!

The Mormon Myths will not survive such open examination and such bright light shined upon it! Watch as the duped minions wake from their dogmatic slumbers and begin to flee from the sinking ship (oops, I mean "caravan").

The truth will set you free.

I'm glad that so many are willing to stand up for their beliefs on the internet.

The truth is not found in a poll or in the whims of current attitudes. It is in the word of God and is confirmed by the Holy Spirit.

"only begotten"(monogenes 3439)Greek. The Glory was a unique relationship and the word begotten does not imply a begining of His Sonship. It suggests relationship indeed, but must be distinguished from generation as applied to man. The begetting is not an event in time. "Vines Greek dictionary.
God begets God
Man begets man
God creates man. C. S. Lewis. Bottom line,God becomes man not man becomes God.

The child was begotten by the Holy Spirt (Mt 1:18)
The Christian view: The Bible tells us that God is a Spirit, and that he his Holy;therefore, God himself must be the Holy Spirit. So we see that there is no contradiction in say Jesus was begotten by the Holy Spirit.(Nicence Creed)Holy Spirt,Holy Ghost same thing in Greek

For being lead by "living prophets," there certainly seems to be a lot of confusion and revisionism going on in the Mormon church. Did God change His mind or did he just tell different stories to the different "prophets?" And if so, why?

You people need to get a life. A Christian life. And I speak to my fellow Mormons, and you "Christians." Do we not all pray to God? Do we not all praise our Lord Jesus Christ? Now lets get to work doing constructive Christ-like acts for others. And prepare our houses for the coming of the Lord. Time is short. Are we prepared? Are we prepared for the failure of governments and nations? Are we prepared for the breakdown of society? Then lets get to work. Stop wasting time with useless bickering.
