I'm disgusted that the law only allows a sentence of 1 year for such horrible acts. It's not like these were junior high kids. I think there is something really wrong with our judicial system if all they get is a slap on the wrist.
These boys are no saints, I have known both of them since they were younger. One of them has a much deeper crime history than anyone knows.
I'm with you, Christy. What is with suspended sentences anyway?? And credit for time already served?? This is a disgusting crime, they've been violent before, and now they've been given the opportunity to do it again, which they undoubtedly will.
Whatever happened to acctability? Why do we continue to lessen accountability when they chose to drink, do drugs or whatever.....and act like idiots and harm others??? Brother...!
No matter how upset you are, what gives you the right to degrade an elderly person who has been there for you. Even while the boys are serving time they have people who will protect them from being treated in the same manner. You can never make up for what you have done to your grandmother. IF you are truly sorry, start changing your life and take advantage of learning some skills while imprisoned so that you can take care of your grandmother when you are released.
if the court allows them to get off with time served they will be burying her next not just urinating on her. drugs and drinking seems to be the out for everything now days. when i use to drink it was for a good time, and get with friends the law has to wonder what they would do if it were their grandmother.I think they need some good hard type punishment.make them go clean bed pans sheets toilets all that at some of the nursing homes in the areas.punishment will go with crime.dont do crime if you cant do time!!!! They are monsters
Child abuse now, leads to elder abuse later.
TIME SERVED ???? THAT JUDGE SHOULD TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THEIR PAST AND KEEP THE SENTENCE!!! YOU DO THE CRIME YOU DO THE TIME, NO IF'S!!! NO WONDER OUR YOUNGER GENERATION DON'T GIVE A RAT'S a** IF THEY GET CAUGHT.
Have to somewhat agree. Although there is no excuse for this action - the grandmother admitted she has a temper too. What has been imposed on these young men for them to think of doing this kind of thing in the first place.
Hard to untrain something at that age if that's what they have grown up knowing - unfortunatly.
Everyone can rise above abuse and become the better person. But reality is, all too often, people don't.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
There are cases of elder abuse where the abuser is mentally ill, but there are plenty of cases when it's payback for mistreatment when they were young, helpless kids. That doesn't make it right, just explains how it can happen.
If I were her, I'd move, don't tell anyone and keep the doors locked.
These look like sweet innocent boys. Not!
Look like creeps, act like creeps!!!
They are very lucky they were not charged with terrorism in this day and age. Quitting school and blaming it on parents and grandparents is rather lame.
Disgraceful. Hard to believe that human beings would behave in such a depraved way.
First they're undercharged by the prosecutor and now the Honorable Judge Reese wimps out at sentencing. What kind of message are we sending to these slugs, not to mention all the other punks on the verge of gang involvement and violence. This was a chance for a stronger message in addition to protecting the community. Don't close the file on these two, I'll bet they'll be back in court on violations and I hope I'm wrong.
a year? a YEAR?! Just a year?!!!
Man, they need more time than that! And I think the judge should show some pity/common sense and sentence this whole family (the 2 brothers & grandma, & whoever else is around) to family counseling to help them learn how to deal with tempers and appropriate family relations. The cycle has to be broken, and they need help learning how. We can't just throw them in jail for not knowing how to act when they've never learned the right way to act (but neither can we accept poor behavior and the lack of knowledge/training as an excuse!)
If they could get a longterm "sentence" of family counseling and rehab for drugs & alcohol & whatever, then and only then would I be ok with just a year in jail.
Two thumbs up
These two young men have some serious problems. I hope the state issues manditory mental health care while they are in prison. The mad part of me would like to see these two suffer like they made their Grandmother suffer, but I do hope they spend their time miserable.
I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS!!!!
THEY SHOULD GET "LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE"!!!
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS---DON'T BLAME THE BOOZE--DRUGS--ETC.
WHO WILL BE THEIR NEXT VICTIM???
