This game is one that could go either way. If BYU prepares, they should come out with a win. If BYU feels that they have the game won before the first snap, they will lose.

BYU has to come out and play team football on both sides of the ball. The offense has to eliminate the turnovers, run the ball, and play the game that they are capable of playing. The defense has to show up and play the type of game that they are becoming famous for - the never quit until the game is over type of defense.

After the shellacking by UNR, they could play like a wounded animal. It is good to show some respect for UNLV.

Show UNLV how a winner plays. Show the conference what type of a football powerhouse BYU has become. Let's go Cougars!! Win this football game!! Remember one game at a time!!

GO BYU! HOPEFULLY YOU CAN STAY UNBEATEN IN CONFERENCE PLAY UNTIL TCU COMES! GOOD LUCK! GOD BLESS YOU!

It is pretty obvious

that the game plan should be to run as much as possible and play ball control. BYU should win this unless the coaches insist on passing and Hall throws a bunch of interceptions.

UNLV has another running QB. Play ball control and keep the ball away from him. Wear down the UNLV defense. Make them stop the run. Isn't it about time BYU showed the poise and maturity to adapt and exploit the other teams weaknesses?

The in conference teams have seen the same passing plays from BYU for 20 years. They know how to read them and stop them.

Use some common sense and win big. Play dumb and throw 5 interceptions.

This game will say more about the coaches than the team.

Trap Game

The next two weeks are excellent opportunities to lose focus. UNLV and SDSU aren't that great, which makes them easy to overlook.

Dear Obvious

Apparently it isn't ovious to you what BYU has done in the Conference. In the last 3 years (2005, 2007, 2008)They have only lost two, did you get that TWO (2) games in conference. That makes them 22-2 over that time period. The two they lost was poor coaching and poor mental preparation. I guess a 22-2 record shows that the other teams haven't figured out how to beat BYU.

As to the run I agree. Hall is pushing to much and let the Heisman publicity get to him. I believe he has what now 8-9 Interceptions in 4 games. I think he ougt to run 40 laps for each interception he throws. This should not be happening to a senior. "If" there were any NFL teams looking at him his stock is going out the window real fast. Still hasn't learned after 3 years that you don't stare down a receiver. The other team is not blind.

Oops

That should read 2006, 2007, 2008.

Savin' Sanford

In all fairness let's not forget that UNR may have been winless but also played a tough schedule including @Notre Dame and a home game against Big 12 opponent Missouri. They also lost to CSU, which is a pretty good team. It's not like UNR is some pansy DII opponent. UNR is a good team that had not played well because of the difficulty of its schedule. They were hungry for a win and took out their frustrations on UNLV. Sanford is doing a good job. Wasn't it just last year UNLV went down to Tempe and knocked off a ranked ASU team? Keep things in context and stop calling for Sanford's job.

ute fans, please don't trash talk on here,we arn't playing against you yet...

This week should be an okay game against a bad team. I suspect it will be very similar in feel to the USU game. If BYU looks past UNLV (a team that should have beat Oregon State) then BYU certainly could lose. I guess this could be a trap game (it certainly was for Utah in '07), but a BYU loss in vegas just isn't a likely outcome at BYU's home away from home. SDSU is a different story: BYU could be preparing for TCU all week, Hall could throw three interceptions, and the defense could give up 300 yards passing, and BYU would still probably eek it out. SDSU is terrible and it will feel like a home game with more cougar fans than aztec fans at that game. October is the soft underbelly of BYU's schedule until the TCU game.

Say What?

Where did that comment come from? I haven't seen a single comment in this thread that could even come close to qualifying as either from a ute fan or as trash talking.

The Truth

"Our conference is tough" .... Really? Is it the UNLV team that got whipped by a winless Reno team that is tough? Is it a SDSU team that lost to Idaho that is tough? If people are really worried about most of the MWC opponents than that says more about you and BYU's team than anything else. TCU and Utah are tough. Air Force and CSU are games that you can be "concerned about", but should win handily. Other than that the MWC (UNLV, SDSU, Wyoming, New Mexico) is a joke and you should win the rest of the games by at least 3 touchdowns. Those are the teams that keep the MWC out of the BCS and that is ....... THE TRUTH.

Robyuuki

Do not count UNLV out. They always rise up against BYU and Utah. However, with that said, look for Harvey to have a brake out game. He will get much closer to taking the top ranking as most yards as a running back at BYU.

I agree with Trap Game. Good words of wisdom.

Hall & BYU Coaching

Max Hall should have been benched after the 2nd INT. It is embarissing for a senior quarterback to have 10 interceptions to 11 touchdowns that is horrable. Second if Robert and Bronco can't see that we need to run the ball more there coaching is to be serioulsy questioned. Run the ball against UNLV and make them like it!!!

Coudios to the Defense and Coach Hill who keep us in the game last last week.

cosmic

Ah the joy of defeating Oklahoma only to lose to UNLV.....What a whirlwind season this will prove to be if the cougs do lose to UNLV!

Not only will Y fans be asking Bronco to Bench Hall? But Y fans will be asking Holmoe to fire Bronco.....

BYU has a bunch of mediocre teams to contend with such as UNLV, San Diego State, Wyoming, New Mwxico, etc. The only games which will be interesting are TCU and perhaps Utah. I expect they'll get an invite to Las Vegas for a bowl game. Hopefully the Pac 10 will have a good opponent so we can have a little excitement there. Go Cougs. Go for the wins on the road. I'm really looking forward to Oct. 24 ao you can make a big statement.

What?

Does anyone else get an uneasy feeling when BYU players say that winning the conference is "one of their big goals this season." One game at a time and winning the conference should be their only goal at this point. The BCS is out the window and Hall's Heisman is a non-starter. Seriously!

S Gavenman

Hall needs to fix his int problem. It he can fix it, then BYU will be just fine.

If he continues then he will not be the best QB at BYU, and we will need to replace him before it is too late. Maybe they could call up Heaps early from school to help if needed. I know someone on the coaching staff that told me they are considering this for the Utah game.

anonomys@6:52

see there you go

geezer

Don't forget UNLV didn't play their quarterback Clayton against Neveda. Clayton will more than likely play vs. BYU. BYU should win, but if UNLV gets its offense going things could get interesting. Rarely does anyone just roll over for BYU. (minus Tulane)
