Correction? | 5:20 p.m. Oct. 4, 2009
Very nice article, Twila. I love the positive way in which these members respond to the naysayers.

But I'm wondering if you don't mean North Temple rather than South Temple?

Fantastic pictures. Great contrast on the first one. Well reported story as well.

Wonderful article! The girl to the right of Angelina took on the leadership role of the group too, helping to make sure to sing the songs requested and making sure those that joined in later had the option of joining the afternoon group when they went to watch conference!

How wonderful, there are so many young people that are turning towards the worldly ideas, such as giving up their belief in God. It is great to see these young people reminding us that there is hope in the youth to come. Hang in there you guys, we need you to be strong.

What a wonderful thing to provide for Conference. I would much rather hear them singing hymns then listen to protesters. I agree with MoJules..well done.

The dissenters have had the streets outside long enough. How refresshing to leave conference and hear hymns instead of rants!

Whether or not you believe in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it doesn't matter when it comes to street dissenters and their mean-spirited approaches. The Church has always taught love your neighbor and do good unto others. Dissenters and protestors have lost this Christian feeling when they feel they have to tear down another's beliefs. They do a disservice to themselves and their cause.

Singing hymns can overcome a myriad of dissension . . .

I was in Utah in 2006 for the Conference and I witnessed the same actions from the dissenters and protestors. I remember the young adults singing and I thought what a wonderful thing to do. My spirit was touched and I think its absolutely amazing to hear that this is still going on and might I say the group has grown since 2006. Keep the good work and may God bless us all.

I totaly, those protestors are more anoying than productive. I hope some day, the mental hospital would stop giving passes out on conference weekend So, we can all sing and enjoy the spirit of conference and the message of the Lord. But until that happens, all praises go out to those who sing hymns in prasies to our Lord.
Re: Eugene | 8:49 a.m. Oct. 5, 2009
"Dissenters and protesters." I know there those who protest the Church for the wrong reasons, genrally moral issues, but there are those who dissent on theological issues. "For he vigorously refuted the Jews[Mormons] in public debate, proving from the Scriptures, that Jesus was the Christ. (Acts 18:28 NIV)
The Messiah(Christos)is not an exalted man but God incarnate. God becomes a man not Man becomes a god.

The 8:49 commentator would do well to read "Jesus the Christ" by James E. Talmadge. Then he would realize that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches that Jesus is the Jehovah of the Old Testament. With that in mind, his claim that we proclaim other than that Jesus was God made flesh is bizarre.
A reading of the Book of Mormon will also produce many such statements, most obviously in Ether where the Brother of Jared sees the finger of the Lord.
Latter-day Saints constantly proclaim that Jesus is the Christ and there is no other way that Salvation can come. The Book of Mormon if anything more clearly declares this than the Bible.

Re:Eugene
You don't have to tell us that Jesus is the Christ, you must have missed the whole meeting. Perhaps you'd like to step inside next time? Also, the scriptures testify all that you refute about man becoming God. Perhaps you need to study more the doctrines who come from the Lord himself. There is so much to learn and so little time in this life. Come partake of the living water, and you'll never thirst.

"Jehovah of the Old Testament", "When Christians scholars of Europe first began to to study Hebrew, they did not understand what YHWH meant they introduced the hybrid name"Jehovah".(names of God Encyclopedia Judaica)or the Jewish Encyclopedia states Yawhweh was mis-translated by the scholars of the 17th to Jehovah (artificial composite). Joseph was not aware of the error.

Re: Eugene, I am not sure of your question or statement,: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.(John 1:1)
And the Word became flesh(incarnate)and lived among us. (John 1:14) Christian view
"As man is,God once was; as God is, man may be.(Articles of Faith James E Talmage)Mormon view

To the 1:54 commentator,
Jehovah is the accepted name in English circles for the God of the Old Testament. Whether it accurately reclects how the Hebrews tehmselves refered to him is a secondary issue.
Those in Peru and Mexico who say JesuChristo or Jesus Christ wrong for not speaking it in the Greek, or maybe we should call him Yeshua because that is probably how he was refered to by those who knew him.
The fact that people speak of someone in a transliterated form does not have relevance to what being they are speaking of.
RE John Pack Lambert | 6:05 p.m. Oct. 5, 2009
In (Ex 6:3)God appears to Moses and tells his name is Yahweh, but in BoM, Abraham, The Almighty appears to him and tells his name is Jehovah.(external witness) Joseph was not aware that this was mis-translation by the KJV scholars. Im sure God(Elohim) knows what his persoanl name is. There is a difference between honest translation and philological impossibilities.
Greek translations | 7:07 p.m. Oct. 5, 2009
Jesus Christ in Greek is Iesus Xristos in the nomitive or Iesou Xristou in the objective form.
Peter is Petros or rock.
Jude is Ioudas. James is Iakobus a Greek form of Jacob. These are translations, not artificial composites,or hybrids, In Abraham when God told him his name was "Jehovah", was not invented yet. Joseph was going by the KJV and not aware of this mis-translation.
