I love that we can serve others and know that what we are doing obey's a commandment of God.

Excellent comments by President Monson...I do think that this world would be a much better place if all the people who profess to have a christian faith would emulate the actions of their namesake...Christians(at least the authentic ones)were allowed to come to this earth to be agents and servants of the Lord,to do his Father's will...Of course they have free agency to act as they will while residing on this planet;but ultimately they will have to answer for their deeds(or misdeeds)in a reckoning beyond the reach of their friends or foes to influence....Jesus said that those who love and serve(a little paraphrasing here)their neighbors are very close to the kingdom of heaven...The edifices of glory we erect to ourselves here do not empress the power that resides beyond this existence...The early apostles existed to serve and nourish the flock;for their reward most of them were executed;as was the Lord himself...I applaud the President for reminding people what their priorities should be,and the truth that by serving others we sometimes save ourselves....

Oops! I failed to mention something entirely in context of this blog. I agree that the talks were excellent. Our modern society does have too much of a "what's in it for me" attitude, and we rely too much on police and government to control moral responsibility, which should start at home.

To: coolman, thank you for noticing. Many don't and you know we do it not out of obligation, but because we care. I've found that when you help others your life is so much more meaningful. You should be commended for your observation. It is appreciated.
