WAY To go Cougs. Another win over Utah after a great win over Oregon is outstanding. Rockwood has another great team

Rockwood has another great team that she'll mismanage and they'll run out of gas at the end of the season. Then, they'll lose the MWC tournament and lose in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
passing game | 1:33 a.m. Oct. 4, 2009
Why is it that BYU, Utah and most teams in the mt west conf. do not get the ball into the middle, make quick short passes, moving to goal, like most good pro teams do? BYU's offense looks like 'clear it to the corners and hope your fast forwards can run it down and maybe make a cross or create a corner kick out of it'. This works some of the time, but a nice quick control game with lots of short passes- will produce more goals, and is more exciting to watch.

Who is this reporter, "the Cougars nursing a six game winning streak." I have never heard of a wining streak needing to be nursed, I've heard that about losing streaks, but not the other way around. I guess she is afraid to give props to a great BYU squad. Here's some help with some adjectives you can use if a team has a six game winning streak and just had a very impressive win over Oregon...holding, possessing, securing, running, sitting on, having an impressive, etc. You get the idea.

Way to go girls! You now have an fantastic 7 game winning streak.

Uh, they're not "pro teams." Thank you very much!

Utah played there best soccer of the year, they made some mental mistakes that cost them the game. Hand balls, fouls, etc. However, they passed the ball very well for the first time this year.

Rich is 0-3 against the other instate schools this year, maybe its time for change?

Actually it's 1-3... they did beat BYU's jv team from UVU.

parents of womens/girls soccer are the most annoying creatures on this planet. This sport is like a princess pageant.
BYU has talent | 6:43 p.m. Oct. 4, 2009
As an avid soccer fan, BYU has a lot of talented players. I was surprised how they approached the first half. BYU only played balls over the top. The second half and overtime was much better. Utah connected their passes better than BYU in the first.

BYU's Carly Payne is one great player. I hope she doesn't fade in the net three years. BYU hasn't had this much overall talent since the years with Maren Hendershot.

Utah played much better than they did against Utah State. Both teams left it on the field. Thanks for a hard fought game from both temas.

What? womens soccer zzzz? You must be kidding. It's more like zzz, snore, snore, roll over, zzz !!!
re passing | 11:57 p.m. Oct. 4, 2009
yes it show's the lack of tactical coaching that goes on at byu... Kicking it as hard as you can is ridiculous and only makes talented players work much harder than they need to.... Don't think Rockwood watches many European games
crying shame | 7:24 a.m. Oct. 5, 2009
they do have great talent at that school. If they had some coaches who were focused on developing talent as opposed to burning it out; i have no doubt the would be a contender for a national title

BYU fans, your pretty tough on the coach. Try being a ute fan and dealing with the lack of coaching for the utes. If the football or basketball coach had the record of the soccer coach, he would be gone, which should be the case.
re: Go Utes | 2:16 p.m. Oct. 5, 2009
Or the fact that he continually chases off talented players by being stuck on playing favorites with certain ones... I'd say Utah's No. 1 problem is lack of team chemistry because a lot of players feel like others are being favored no matter how hard they work.
BYU coaches are Great! | 4:46 p.m. Oct. 5, 2009
Coach Rockwood, Coach Watkins and Coach Rose are great coaches, see the 12-2-1 record! And their record in years past. And how they treat players so well. Did I mention they make their living at coaching. If any of you experts above have coached above U16 or have a license above a C youth license, please let me know. Good luck maligning a coaching staff that's 12-2-1 with wins over 4 top 20 teams this year, I'm sure the AD and Pres. Samuelson won't respond to your request.

Great Saturday night. Three freshmen from Park City HS on the field to start the match. Must have been a top notch high school team.

Short, crisp passing is fun to watch, but rarely results in scoring chances. 86% of all goals are scored with five touches or fewer. Balls slotted through the defense or over the top are very dangerous.
In fact, statistically, world-wide and on every level of competition, if a team has over 10 touches on a single possession, their scoring chances are virtually nil.
And tactically speaking, balls played on crosses from the corners are more likely to result in scores than attacks from the middle. That's why coaches hate to give away corner kicks.
