With the loss to Dallas RSL is realistically looking forward to next year any way.

On a side note; for those of us who were Blitz fans, they played BYU quite a bit and usually beat them about 4-0.

I've always wondered how big the difference is between USL 2nd division and MLS and wonder what this score might indicate?
Hey Beckerman... | 8:43 a.m. Oct. 4, 2009
the reason to hang your heads is that you've put yourself in this situation.
Seattle doesn't need to hang their heads. Colorado doesn't need to hand their heads. RSL however...

This mini-preseason is only any good if the team now plays a perfect mini-season. I hope they do but right now it feels like 2004: lots of concern for RSL but I'm really watching the rest of the league to try and get a handle on next year.

Three games left and Kreis is still trying to get the team on the same page! Maybe that should have been more of a focus earlier on; too late!

RSL fans may feel hopeless; but the players and coaches still have a job to do and that is to finish the season as strong as they possibly can as a team.

Good luck, and Go RSL..............

after studying the tables and remaining matches with contenders, even winning 3 games it will take an act of congress to make the playoffs. Somehow, it will be irrelevant because I see them getting nothing in Toronto...

well if a act of congress is what we need then we still have a chance since the the Utah Legislator came through once. with that in mind i still believe. come RSL let do It.

hey todd congrats your team is making the playoffs. It's too bad RSL isn't going to because we could have made a lot of noise. We can still stop the Rappids from making it and can still finally beat NYRB. I expect 2 wins from the last 2 home games.
I just hope that little Napolean complex ref isn't there. He "called" the game against LA, for those of you that remember. The Dick Bavetta of the MLS.

I want them to do it ELREY i live in La but I hate most teams out here. I am a fan of REAL and I hope we make it. It probably benefited us as i watched Colorado-New England over weekend on ALtitude. the 1 point each gives us still a chance better as keeps us close to more teams giving us better chance if one of them fades.

PS Outside of Connor Casey, i watch the Rapids and ask

How are they ahead of Real in the standings, geez we have way better talent....

Chadders, I hope the Galaxy finish 1st and Real 8th that would have meant maybe I could have met Fedor and some of you at HOme Depot for a playoff game. In case you wonder, sure I like Donovan and Beckham but I admit the Galaxy are a very arrogant organization.

I assure you my friend and I who would go, we would sit with the Real people and I would root wildly for Real and especially when they came out of the tunnel my voice would be heard in Torrance.

Mathematically, RSL will end up ahead of DC United and Toronto and can pass the following teams that are currently in the top 8: Chicago, Chivas, Seattle, Colorado, and New England. RSL must win out (43 points) to have a shot at the playoffs. Here are remaining games for all teams RSL can pass in the standings:

Chicago(41), @NE, Chivas
Seattle(41), @KC, Dallas
Chivas(41), KC, SJ, @Chicago, Houston
Colorado(40), @Dallas, @RSL
New Eng.(38), Columbus, Chicago, @Columbus
DC United(36), Columbus, @KC
Toronto(35), SJ, RSL, @NYRB

Referring to my previous comment, there are many scenarios where, IF RSL WINS OUT, they make the playoffs. The most likely to me is that Colorado loses or ties @ Dallas. That puts RSL in. Several other possibilities exist that aren't entirely unlikely (e.g. Seattle or Chicago get 0 or 1 point from their final 2 games, NE gets 4 or fewer points from their remaining 3, etc.). So if RSL wins out, I actually think it's fairly likely that they still make the playoffs. It will be fun (or frustrating!) to see how it plays out.

If it all comes down to the Rappids game I am going to be very happy. It is possible we could beat out Colorado but we have to pray NE, DC, and Toronto stay behind Colorado for us to make the playoffs. I think Kansas City has lost hope so it is possible we win there but we will be very lucky to make the playoffs. I hope I'm proven wrong cuz I'll love seeing our playoff games but at the moment I don't see us making it. Prove me wrong RSL. Please?
