"Focusing on minor weaknesses of the Prophet Joseph Smith misses the mark, the man and his mission of restoring the gospel, said Elder Tad R. Callister of the Seventy."
What about those major Weaknesses of Joseph Smith Jr?
I greatly enjoyed Elder Callister's talk. He gave great insight, and great understanding of the truth. I thought it was the best talk in the session, athough I also liked President Packer's and several others.
I agree. I'm not sure I would call a polygamist who lied about it to his wife, having a "minor" weakness. I agree that JS was a great man, but he had some major weaknesses.
Cutting off someone's ear isn't a "minor weakness" either, but I still see Peter as a servant of the Lord.
Excellent talk.
The Lord directed Joseph in restoring the priesthood, and the translation of the Book of Mormon, no doubt.
The Lord also permitted Joseph to live by faith, sometimes weak faith, and at times he made errors.
Joseph, like us, lived by faith trusting in the merits of Christ, to attone for the errors.
