Im hoping it will be by the brigham city west stake area since all the land is
already owned by church and not in use there. hoping anyway, but anywhere is
awesome being in our town!!!

Brother Brigham is surely jumping with joy today to think that a House of the Lord will be established in his namesake-city!
I'm just guessing they're going to convert the historic B.C. Tabernacle into the new temple?!?! That was my first reaction.

I am so please to hear of the Chile Conception temple. The people of Chile are
so deserving and willing to use the temples. I felt their spirit last October as
I visited with many loving Saints there. Gods know his children. It is well when
they come to know him.

That tabernacle is beautiful as it and a great piece of our local history for
ALL.... I hope they don't convert it into a temple.

Not likely. The church noted when it did the Vernal Temple that the conversion
of an existing building was done as an exception, not something they try to do.
Hong Kong was also a conversion (old mission home and stake center). Most
temples are built from the ground up.

Sapporo is getting a temple! I can't think of more deserving saints. The
work is amazing there.

I attended the Tokyo temple dedication many moons ago. Cool to see another
temple being planned in Japan. Nice geographical spacing - Fukuoka (south
island), Tokyo (center of main island), Sapporo (north island). Maybe next will
be Osaka area which is on the main island, second most populated area in Japan,
and midway between Fukuoka and Tokyo.

The Washington D.C. Temple cost about 15 million to build.
15 million would go a very long way to fill empty bellies, and build modest shelters for the homeless and impoverished.

Always exciting to hear about new temples! It's a great day for the saints
in Brigham City; Concepcion, Chile; Fortaleza, Brazil; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.;
and Sapporo, Japan.

I served in Sapporo from 02-04. It is beyond words how amazing it was to hear
the Prophet announce the temple in Hokkaido. The Japanese saints may be few in
number, but they have been working for this for a long time in Hokkaido.

Living in North Ogden and having served a mission in Chile I am very excited
about the Brigham City, and Concepcion, Chile temples. The faithful Chilean
saints have been waiting since 82 for a second temple in their beautiful
country. Can't wait for the dedication of all five new temples!

The Vernal Temple was a conversion of a run down building. This is very
different from the historic Tabernacle in BC. While it would be thrilling to
see a statue of the Angle Moroni on top of the Tabernacle I can't see the
church losing the opportunity to use this historic building, which is a
beautiful example of pioneer craftsmanship, as a missionary tour by allowing the
public access to it. Constructing a modern temple would probably be
considerably less expensive than retrofitting the current Tabernacle.

The lot across from the tabernacle in Brigham City says sale pending on all 7
lots. hmmm..... Also, how about the old indian school property hmmm.... I am
5th generation Brighamite and I know my parents and other loved ones are up
there celebrating! I am so excited.

Are there empty lots around the Tabernacle in BC? Google Maps shows what loops
to be a parking lot surrounding a cleared area directly West of the Tabernacle.
This looks like it was designed to put a building (perhaps a temple) there when
needed.

Hong Kong was purpose built as a temple, mission office chapel. It was not
converted. New York City however was converted from a chapel / visitors center
into a temple / chapel. Also there is one other in one of the Nordic countries
that was converted from a stake center to a temple.

We are so excited about the temple in Brigham City - my kids were jumping up and
down! I can't wait to see where they build it! Last time we attended the
Ogden Temple we barely got a parking spot on the street. It will be so nice to
get one in Box Elder County - the older residents call it heaven anyway -this
will just be the icing on the cake!

Perhaps instead of wasting your time criticizing others, you should get off your hind-quarters and do something too.

I guess no matter how much money the Church spends on welfare for the homeless,
aid to disaster victims, not to mention the poor within its own ranks, it will
never be enough to satisify those who want to tell us how to spend our money.
For all those other religious organizations who donate in like amounts, I take
my hat of to you. Please step forward and let these nay-sayers take pot shots
at you for a while, would you?

34 years ago when I was in Fukuoka as a missionary I never dreamed that in my
lifetime even one temple would be built in "non-Christian" Japan. Now
we wil soon have three!

JAYEG: Please name me another people, besides the temple building LDS, who give
more to humanitarian, welfare, and service hours (in addition to their tithing
for temples) than the faithful Mormons. It appears that they are able to do
both. JAYEG, no other faith has produced a people who are willing to sacrifice
time, welfare farm service hours, community service projects, home teacher and
visiting teaching hours, etc. It is an amazing thing. "By their fruits, ye

I hope all the Saints who left South Florida (Miami to Palm Beach) to be near
the temple in Orlando back in the 90's will consider moving back (maybe?).
This is a bitter-sweet moment for many but we're all thrilled for the
blessing of a temple in Fort Lauderdale.

I am really excited to see another temple here in Florida. The work is growing
immeasurably and there is a real need for it. And kudos for the other 4! I am
glad to see Brigham City getting a new temple as well! Ogden was outgrowing
itself a little, in my opinion... I would love to go back and visit once
it's done!

2010-2020 will likely go down as the greatest decade Brazil has ever seen. The
World Cup in 2014, The Olympics in 2016 and the dedication of at least two
temples (Fortaleza, Manaus)! Congrats to the people of Brazil.

I am not trying to ridicule you but I will defend the church which I love.
I know that God called a prophet to lead an organization to do good work. Without such an organization most other faiths fail to accomplish as much as they would desire. I am not criticizing other religions for that matter. I am stating that through structure and commitment we can do great things.
God does not recognize our government or any other. They will all cease to exist after this life and so will every body, well fed or malnourished. This life is sandbox environment where we can learn and understand the righteousness behind agency and that giving people the ability to choose between good and evil is more efficient and fair than forcing all to unwillingly act against their will.
Philosophically, no one has more claim over another, we are all on this earth together and there are those working for good and those who are not. Criticizing the LDS church does nothing to feed stomaches either and wasting your time might also be criticized. I encourage you to not destroy but to build upon good things. I love the sacred temple.

During times of economic hardship, recession, bankruptcy and unemployment, it
always amazes me that some organizations possess the fiscal resources to
construct new projects such as these five new LDS temples while thousands of
homeless veterans and families can be found trying to survive on the streets.

Utah has enough temples, are you lazy to go to the ones that are already so
close. The world gives all they have to go and spend so much time to get there,

I don't expect you to believe as I believe, but I would have hoped you'd have better reasoning skills than were evident in your post.

It only takes a quick look at GoogleMaps and a reference to the article to make
a pretty accurate determination about the probable location of the the Brigham
City temple!

Which is now a flat gravel quarry, at the confluence of two major state highways, in the mouth of the canyon, directly overlooking the city and existing Tabernacle.

I'm so happy to hear the saints in south Florida will soon have a

I remember beginning my mission feeling that we were working toward building a
temple on the island of Hokkaido. Our whole mission was focused on getting one
more stake in the area in order to bring the blessings of the temple to that
area.
I wonder if anybody know if Kushiro district is now Kushiro stake?

I suppose the lots across from the tabernacle COULD be used but people would
have to park at Smith's or at the tabernacle. (Where there is already
insufficient parking.)

I'm always looking forward to conference because I know there will be new
temples announced. Prophecy is being fulfilled and no unhallowed hand can stop
the work. By the way the Lord decides where the temples will be built not man.
And I'm grateful for each one of them.
I doubt there is any other church that helps the poor and needy more than the LDS for all you negative individuals. Maybe you should do a little more research. And if you see people hungry and poor just what have you done to help them?

The Saint deserve there own Temples? What would it mean to sacrafice and drive a
few hours to make a meanigful visit. It amazes me the politics and back room
deals that take place where these temples are places. If you want them to be no
more meaningful then the 7-11 on the coner then keep down the current path and
your dealings. I don't stand alone, that I know is true. Enough is enough.

the church doesn't build anything unless there is a need.
Good thing the church can afford to build 5 temples. It puts a lot of people in construction to work. It allows people to stay in their homes and fill their bellies.
