Lobbyists could get Capitol digs
5 comments | Read story
lobbyists/bookies analogy.
I agree, keep lobbyists out of our Capitol building.
Giving lobbyists this room is an injustice, it would better serve the people if they too had a place to meet with our elected officials. And then how and where will non profit and citizens groups meet with our government? It's almost criminal putting the bribers and corruption in such close proximity. Lobbyist are the Lords of crime in government with more than necessary illegal access to elected government.
How about our govt leaders doing what is best for their constituents- Utah families- without requiring bribes- ER, I MEAN- campaign contributions, to do so.
Will Gayle Ruzicka have a desk in the capital? That would be an extremely convenient set up to allow her to remind Chris Buttars which groups she wants him to discriminate against at particular points in time.

They may be "part of the game" as the Capitol Preservation Board says, but they don't deserve to have a permanent place in a government building. That's like saying gambling is a part of football, so bookies should rent space on the sidelines.
The farther away from the legislature we can keep these influence-peddlers, the better. Maybe that way there'll be less pandering to special interests and big donors, and more thinking about what the people of the state really need.
Oh, and I'm okay with more of my tax money being used to support and preserve the capitol buildings. That's part of what we pay taxes for, isn't it?
