If the IOC doesn't clean up their act they will destroy the Olympic Games. They can be replaced by a new international sports program.

When Salt Lake was on the hot seat, the Japanese who beat us out four years earlier decided right then it was time to burn all their bid records because "they weren't needed any more."

The IOC is as corrupt organization as any we have seen. A select few are able to use their position to take money from countries for personal gain. Would anyone really care if the olympics just went away?
Prestige Costs Money | 7:18 p.m. Oct. 2, 2009
To the author of this article, here are the reasons why it has costs so much over the years.

Back to as recent as the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984, which was acquired in 1977, the IOC actually were virtually begging for hosts cities to carry the Olympics.

Back then, countries weren't too interested in carrying the bag of high costs to run a game that lasted only 2 weeks, yet would costs the host a great deal without it really making any sort of pay off.

However, nowadays, we can see just how far each nation would go in order to better their position as the city and country to host a world event.

It's amazing to think that Presidents, Prime Ministers, and even Kings would get directly and personally involved, which clearly states that this is game that involves not just athletes, but the highest of world powers.

WHY???

Because the prestige of the Olympics is a very big deal, with repercussions that will last decades after the games have ended.

Prestige is a powerful motivator to be gained, even to extend huge amounts of money, and now, even heads of State.

Remember.....PRESTIGE.
