We can only hope that the Republicans can get enough seats in the 2010 elections to re-take the house, stop the Obama drive to socialism and then win the White House in 2012 and go to work to correct the damage Obama has done! For example, one need to look no further than the recent escapades at the UN! Shameful...down right shameful!

You gotta hand it to him. He knows how to raise money.

Mitt,

Please help us get Obama out. That socialist is ruining our country.

"Mitt Romney appreciates the support, and the money raised will allow him to stay active politically...."

Is Mitt Romney worth $150 MILLION or not?

Anonymous | 11:54 a.m. Sept. 30, 2009
Romney will never win so why is Utah still so enamored by everything Romney?
Impressive | 11:55 a.m. Sept. 30, 2009
I had the priviledge of attending last night and I came away very impressed. Mitt has surrounded himself with a very good team of highly qualified, intelligent, high level of integrity, passionate group.
Unlike our current Communist President who has a bunch of tax evaders, terrorists, america haters on his payroll.

Go Mitt you have my vote in 2012

I noticed that the event, normally held in the larger Ballrooms of the Grand America Hotel to the smaller 1/3 of the Ballroom at Little America Hotel. One can only hope that support and money is waning.

Well said!!!!

Romney! Enough said. I support him big time
ANSWERS | 12:07 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
The RE-PUBLI/CONS have all the answers but are waiting to get back in POWER before they bestow their solutions upon the rest of us mere mortals.

Didn't these guys have all the answers, not to mention control of the White House, Senate and House for 6 years?

And we are going to trust them...

Again?

YIKES!
Johanan | 12:10 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
Republicans blew it by not choosing Romney (because of his particular religion), and as a result, the party is falling apart. Glenn Beck is starting a movement that will eventually culminate in a much larger group of people that don't wish to belong to ANY party- and a lot of these people are coming from the Republican Party- like me and my family and friends.
I'm Shocked | 12:14 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
I'm shocked Mitt was able to raise so much money in Utah given how unpopular he is with Utahns.
Your R Just Fooling Yourselves | 1:23 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
$125,000 is a pretty paltry sum, given that he was preaching to the Utah choir. Has he run out of steam? Also, won't he be as old as McCain was next time he runs.
Anonymous | 3:28 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
Mitt uses the same game theory as a panhandler uses. If you want a panhandler to return you give him your money. They same works for Mitt.
Age | 3:30 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
McCain is 11 years older than Romney.
Raise cash-yes/get elected-no | 3:31 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
The Republicans are letting Romney raise as much cash as possible before they dump him like they always do.

He can raise money, but he will never be accepted enough to be elected.
Romneycare | 3:37 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
Let me get this straight... you want to elect Mitt Romney to undo the "damage" done by Obama. The "damage" being health care reform, which is essentially the health care reform of Massachussetts which was signed into law by then-governor Mitt Romney.

That should be an interesting debate.
congrats Mitt | 3:56 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
The naysayers are tedious
Dear Johanan  | 4:05 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
What did you think of Beck's show yesterday, when he said Obama shouldn't campaign for Chicago Olympics in 2016, because the the Vancouver BC Olympics had lost a billion dollars?

How come no one else is as smart as Glenn Beck?

Does that make Obama look stupid or what?
linguini backbone | 4:21 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
Mitt's backbone is less sturdy than wet lingiuni. Is Utah too blind to see that this man has 0% political ideals. This is the same guy who FORCED all Massachussets to get medical insurance...the same thing Republicans are complaining about now. As Andrew Aullivan so appropriately coined, " a hollow shell of cynicism and salesmanship". For real principles relating to limited governemnt and conservative ideals, look at Ron Paul.
It really kills the liberals | 4:55 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
to see that there is a Republican that stands out in the arena of politics. All I can say to them is: Get used to it comrads!
Rudy | 5:04 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
Apparently everybody in Utah has picture of Romney in their wallet. He will not save this country because it is beholden to business interest and Romney is a greedy businessman who only looks after his interest and his rich friends.

What needs to happen to save this country.

1. Abolish the federal reserve and give the power back to the government so money is a servant to the people instead of us being enslaved to the banks.
2. Immediatley repalce all federal reserve notes with new issued government money.
3. Pay off creditors and adjust taxes to pay the newly issued money.
4. Pass balanced budget amendment and an amendment that does not allow borrowing under any circumstance.
5. elect people who have the political will to do the above
R.Simmons | 5:07 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
Obama reminds me of the pharoahs of Egypt, particularly the one that destroyed the babies. He's very frightening because he has surrounded himself with Communists in his shadow government. In past times Communists ultimately have turned to brutality to maintain their rule. If that proves so this time, America will only regain its freedom by the blood of patriots because tryannical governments stomp on the laws of freemen and lock up and even kill the innocent. Support anyone morally upright, wise and honest to defeat him. My biggest fear is that he will bankrupt the country and bring martial law into effect and strip us of our freedoms before a new president can come into office.
Sarah Palin had better not get.. | 5:51 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
The Republican party will commit UTTER political suicide if they allow S.P. to be in the spotlight again.

I am conservative and believe in splitting up the Republican party. The lobbyist-serving brain-washed fake conservatives who are actually liberal and the paleo-conservative conservatives that still know how to represent the people while being individually intelligent as well.

The reason I say this is because there are actually some republicans that think that a women who gives 'I'm next to Russia and Canada' as an answer to 'what foreign relation experience do you have' as actually supposing to be a good support for her claim.

Geographical location has nothing to do with the affairs of a governor unless she can link it to other premises which can support the conclusion she made. Katie Couric even asked her for more information which S.P. just moved away from, of course.

Go Mitt!
To Simmons | 5:53 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
It is amazing how ignorant people are. The Communists are those who are trying to destroy the President of the United States. Only thing is, God is not going to let the Mormons are any other group do this act of treason.
anonymous | 6:02 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
Romney won't get the nominee in 2012.
Anonymous | 6:04 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
Rudy, Isn't your point 4 part of the Constitution that has been constantly trampled the last 80 years.

R Simmons, that's a bit of an extreme example. WE THE PEOPLE will always rule here. I'm afraid that while I do not approve in the least where the current president is pointing the development of the country, he was elected by the people. Perhaps the silver lining is America will become interested in voting for people who are actually going to put personal interests behind them and actually represent the people. Pres. Obama's dropping approval rating is a sign that he was elected with "hopes" of a quick fix. People simply didn't think it through before they cast a vote for the winner of the popularity contest that was the election of 2008. Sad.
Anonymous | 6:25 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
I'm voting for obama, and not just because all of this scaremongering as noted in the previous posts is nonsense. Mitt's not it, at least not outside of utah. And sarah, out on the book trail, is really not it. Although she would do wonders for the campaign, comedians, and SNL.
Kay-B | 6:40 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
I cannot say i approve of anything Obama has done just yet, although I think he says a great deal of what people wish to hear. If they matched, I could support the man in some form, though not completely, as no person matches my ideals 100%.
Romney has also done some interesting things I cannot approve of, however, I feel that his 'corporate greed' is inappropriately named. If it were deemed corporate desire instead, what is wrong with it. When a company seeks to improve profits they have to do what is best for them, but consequently, we get the best product we will accept, at the cheapest price. Some would argue companies make crap, but we still purchase it. I think we drive consumer interests and therefore, so long as the government is run as an efficient business, adhering to consumer demands, we are in good shape.
ITrustNo1 | 6:44 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
We need a President that can understand our economy and can fix it. Not some guy on a four year vacation flying around on Air Force One. Not some guy who uses Tax Payer money to pay back the Unions and others who got him elected. Romney understands our economy and the quickest way to pull things together before it is to late. Romney won't act like a little kid in a candy store bouncing around all over the world playing with the White House toys. Romney will just roll up his sleeves and get the job done. Romney is a "FIX IT" guy with no ghosts in his closet.
hillarious | 7:23 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
it's hillarious that Romney supporters always fall back on "he's ran a successful business" as reason he would make a great President. Do they think George Soros or Bill Gates (both much more successful than Romney) would make great Presidents? Of course not, because like Romney they don't have the proper perspective on Government. Look at a someone who understands and is committed to liberty and the rights of the individual. Look at Ron Paul.
Running Mates | 7:31 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
I pick Glenn Beck or Limbaugh. Everyone seems to love them...
Mitt Romney? | 7:35 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
Comes to Utah for more money? It goes where? He uses it for what? Does he prove where it goes or just state it? Is it that he keeps coming to Utah because it's the only place that likes him? Is his multi million retreat sold here yet? And finally but not least, do you people here really believe the rest of the Rep party adores him like you do?
Lee | 8:55 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009
That last comment does not sound like everyone in Utah loves Mitt Romney, but this person in North Carolina loves him as much as Utah loves him. It's sad that some people do not like others who have worked hard and accomplished something with their life, and have been successful. Mitt and Ann Romney in the White House will make me proud to be an American again. I've lost my pride in the last eight months.
Anyone who supports Mitt | 12:25 a.m. Oct. 1, 2009
should most definitely see the video of his debate when he ran against Ted Kennedy for Senator (just go to YouTube and search for "Mitt Romney Ted Kennedy debate").

I supported him before watching that debate, in which he said he said he has been pro-choice for 30 years and will never change, as well as that the Boy Scouts should be forced to allow gay leaders.

Even if you believe his change of heart on these issues is genuine, there are at least half a dozen clips from that debate that the Dems would SALIVATE at the prospect of broadcasting in an attack ad.
He's a failure | 6:44 a.m. Oct. 1, 2009
Don't understand the fascination the mormon people have for this criminal politician. His early career in his home state was fraught with corruption, lies, and dishonesty. He was booted out of office without hesitation then and he hasn't changed. Even his work here for the 2002 olympics was full of corruption and dishonesty.

The people of Utah are being duped once again and voting by religion and not their brains.

Anyone who thinks what party elected oficials are in makes any difference is totally ignorant. The real control of government are corporate america, Wall Street, and the very wealthy, and they set policy and make the laws.

Those entities in control of government always donate to every candidate of every party just so they have some leverage to persuade elected officials to their cause, money.
