Ed, are you sure you didn't have the parents email you something about their own child's performance, and then edited it for this story? I appreciate positive input, but this schmooz is a little too thick for me.

It's obvious that each performer was talented and deserved the opportunity to play with the Utah Symphony.

Lighten up.

These musicians deserve all the credit they receive. And in this day and age isn't obvious that each performer was talented and deserve to play with the Symphony. There are so many hacks out there passing as musicians. Have you heard of Ashlee Simpson?
You're sounding like a parent whose child didi'nt make the cut.

Inevitably these young musicians, if they continue their music careers, will find plenty of critics who will find issues with their performances.

At this stage, can't we allow them to be positively received, reviewed and encouraged, even if it is a little thick?

These are unbelievably talented youth. We had the privilege of hearing Verina Chen play a few weeks ago and to say she is talented is an understatement. I can't imagine the number of hours over many years required to reach this level of proficiency on an instrument.

A big "Thank You!" to each of these youth for their dedication, sacrifices and efforts, and for sharing their wonderful talents with us.

The show last night was breath-taking! Congratulations to all the performers -- this must be one of the most competitive events for young musicians in Utah.

Events like this should be shared with kids in every state, and 'bully' to the Deseret News for sponsoring what I consider Salt Lake's best foot forward. What vision. On a personal note I know this Bauman girl and her more than equally talented
parents. Bravo!

I would like to commend all of the young people for their beautiful performances. What wonderful talent and what dedication and discipline they have. Thank you to the Deseret News for sponssoring this wonderful program and to the Utah Symphany for their part in helping these young people to display their talent in such a wonderful way. Aubree Oliverson played like an angel!
