I wish low cost housing would come to some other place but Midvale. We have alot of problems that come with this type of housing. And alot of low cost housing. And we don't need more crime. How about next to Mayor Carron house?

Anonymous

Midvale has two low income housing projects within the city limits. The crime and drugs in these two areas are well known. The Mayor is more intent on making Midvale a crime area. She is not interested in bringing Midvale up to a higher standard. There are many areas in Midvale that could be improved, to bring more business and using the cute main street as a draw, instead everyone wants to be out of old Midvale before dark. We need new blood in Midvale government not the same OLD tired ideas. Please Mayor, pull your head out of the sand, you are not everyone's hero.

Jimbo

Okay were they talking about the tax subsidized projects having swimming pools and garages?

Those sound more like luxuries than necessities to me.

Why shoud tax payers who don't have these luxuries be paying the bill for things like this?

Why would people ever want to move out of housing units like thi if they're going to have to pay more and downgrade their quality of life elsewhere?

Apartment City

Midvale is already filled with apartment complexes that are eyesores and crime-ridden. One is across the street from the police station. Mayor Seghini has a heart of gold for the poor, but doesn't pay much attention to the middle class and older citizens who pay for her ideas. Will Midvale ever get a grocery store?

To Apartment City

Did you read the article? They're building a WinCo...a grocery store right now.

These are not low-income. They're moderate-income. Most of the people that live in Midvale now...have a moderate income.

We are moving

Do most of the moderate income people who live in Midvale have a swimming pool and exercise room subsidized by other tax payers? The last thing Midvale needs are more apartments. The WinCo grocery store (if it is ever completed) will serve more Murray and West Jordan residents than Midvale residents.

Down hill slide

The Bingham Junction property is ideal for the retail development Midvale so desperately needs, and yet city fathers (mothers) are starting by building more giant apartment complexes there. How many cities are half home owners and half renters and yet continue to add more rentals.

$121,500 per living rental unit. (?)

Used to be $75,000 to build rental units in 2004.

Affordable housing comes from affordable building (land, lower taxes, and building permits/impact fees, etc).

Currently, buying foreclosed condos/townhomes are cheaper way to create affordable housing. Why hail this project?

lost in DC

the St. Moritz apartments just lost 80% of their value.
