Wonderful. I understand that the building will be the location of a host of EPA regulators who will be there to make sure people throughout the state are not polluting CO2. They will be monitoring virtually everyone, and everything, and will have their notebooks ready from which names will be submitted of people who are emitting too much pollution (C02) from which the fines will begin. This is how the administration will fund their trillions of budget deficites.

Don't Forget About

those "twisty" lightbulbs made in Communist China which we're all forced to buy in two short years from now, which emit bright, eye-glaring florescent light and which contain hazardous levels of mercury. I'll be this new green building has those too, oh goodie!

Green building future

Few people realize but buildings are the biggest polluters and energy guzzlers on the face of the planet due to their reliance on fossil fuels for heating (natural gas) and cooling (air conditioning from coal-fired electricity). By cutting the need for energy by 70 percent, this BLM building will drastically cut its pollutants into Utahns' lungs and drinking water.

I recently built a green home and have been thrilled to see my energy bills a fraction of my neighbors -- my gas bill this month was $8.88 and my electricity was under $100! With north-south siting, passive solar design and a geothemal heat pump system, we've not had to use air conditioning much during the summer, and we don't expect to turn the heat on till mid-November or later (the southern sun is doing much of that for us now).

The biggest benefit of green building is overall comfort -- a well-designed home that maintains a steady interior temperature is extremely comfortable!

If people want to trash talk green building, go ahead, but remember, you're the ones paying significantly more for your day-to-day energy needs. The future is super energy efficiency!

All of the "green" building is just a feel good exercise and that helps us tip toe around the real problem. There are just too many people on this planet, and too few resources to support them. Since nothing will be done until we start running out of key resources, like oil, I say we should just consume to our hearts content until we really start to feel the pinch of energy shortages , etc. So until then, let's fuel up the Hummer, water that Kentucky Blue Grass, and get another 52 inch plasma flat screen for the den.

Talk about spin. Nothing that is mentioned in this article that has not been in use for decades.

The government sure knows how to spend our money better than we do. This is the biggest wast of money I have ever heard of. The country is so deep in debt, but will print all the money in the world for this scandle called GREEN!

What About Water Use

What about the "facilities" within the new green facility, if you know what I mean. Do they contain the marvellous "one-flush" water-saving model forced onto Americans by the all-knowing and all-wise federal government (When everybody knows that, quite often, the one-flush turns into a two-flush operation just to get the job done?) Ahh, I love federal environmental mandates. Makes me feel all warm inside knowing that they care so much about the environment and their solutions are the best!
