This is appalling that Utah is rating its income by household rather than individual earnings. This is distorting the truth of income in Utah and its workers. How many incomes in a household are the summing together to get these outlandish numbers? This is a distortion of the truth of income and wages in Utah and how terrible it is. A household could comprise of 7 or 8 workers and gives a false impression of the facts. This is not a poll to be proud of and shames our government using such dishonest information to make themselves look good.

The only reason there are so many incomes in a house hold is because families have been forced to co-habitate because of inflation and economic stresses. Lets get the real truth out and really expose the corruption in the income levels of jobs in Utah. The real picture would be astoundingly different.

"..a distortion of the truth of income and wages in Utah..." "..expose the corruption in the income levels.." What are you talking about?

Household income is a very legitimate measure of income. Not the only measure, mind you, but a legitimate one nonetheless.

Large families and two family households may have several people who earn incomes. They also share many expenses (housing, utilities, food, etc.).

I don't think there is anything shameful about combining incomes and sharing expenses in order to make ends meet during tough economic times. In many ways, it is the smart thing to do.

Just because some jobs in this state pay less than an equivalent job in another area does not mean that the system is "corrupt".
And so? | 9:14 a.m. Sept. 29, 2009
What is not corrupt in Utah. ?????
The State runs the biggest Ponzi deal in the Courts.
Cops are not Robin Hoods helping People.
Cops are in on the Take and not doing as well as the Judges and Lawyers.
When will the Cops smarten up?
They are a Threat to the People.

Utah did not do this study nor did the Utah state government have anything to do with it. If you read the story it says that the study was a result of the US Census.

You may want to check your prejudice at the door next time you read a news story.

Also, families cohabitating is a good thing. I helps the family be stronger, improves childrens early development, proveds better structure in the family adn is also goo for the enviroment.

The census is suppose to show family income, not household income.

Since these figures are "before" the meltdown, they have little meaning, except as a gauge for the census after the melt.

"The effect of the recession in Utah, at least in 2008, was maybe a bit different than expected."

News flash: regardless of what Ben Bernanke says, the recession isn't over. We've merely had a plateau because of the bailouts and stimulus injections. When the effects of those wear off, the real recession begins.
