I completely agree that we have great athletes and are improving every week. I look forward to a great game this weekend! Just in time for conference! Go Aggies !
I think that this should be a very interesting game. It sounds like Coach Anderson will be able to do some good for the Aggies.
May the best team win!! Go BYU show them what the MWC can do!!!
Aggies are on the rise. All of the pieces are in place to move out of the cellar. Looking for a good game Friday, and better games in the future.
USU football is a lot like the basketball program has been in Provo. Going back to the "Reid" years, it takes a long time to build a program back, which by the way you still haven't done yet in the easiest sport to rebuild of the two. USU will rebuild and will get back to be competetive again with you so-called powerhouses of Utah in football and so will Weber State as long as McBride has a hand in things. I'm so sick of all of this "Hollier than thou" attitude of the Ewets & Yinners I can't stand it. Play us(USU) on a home & home in basketball any time you want and we will show both of you what competition is and the football program will be there in a few years also. Remember this!
I don't think this game will be very competitive after the first quarter or two, but Anderson definitely has the Aggie program moving in the right direction. Although, if the team managed to keep it close against Texas A&M and Utah, it could be much closer than many people think. It's unfortunate, because perceptions haven't changed about USU so anything short of a blowout by BYU will look bad for the cougars, even if USU ends up being a decent team this year. I think the Aggies probably go on to win 4-5 more games this year, but they had a really tough OOC schedule so their record makes them look like the same old USU. Once they get into WAC play the wins will come.
Because we know you zoobs are counting..."During his 11 seasons with the Utes, Utah posted a 6-5 record against BYU"
stop whinig cougs...Coach Andersen is great because he was at Utah. He dominated byu for a decade and now he will do the same at Utah st. I called the loss to Florida st by 40 and I was right and no i'm calling the loss to Utah st. by 21. there will be a lot of crying and lost testimonies in provo come friday night. poor cougs...of course i have never met a coug fan who is not a bandwagon fan.
As an Aggie fan and pretty much a hater of the Y I do have to say your comments are unnecessary and not very accurate. True USU is very competitive in basketball but so is BYU. Frankly neither team has produced in the NCAA's for quite some time.
Anderson is making great strides with the program, the confidence level is much higher BUT we are still a little ways off from being competitive with BYU and Utah. Win one against either school and then we can start chirping a bit. Until then all you do is give the "holier than thou" Cougar fans ammo to lambast us on these boards, which we are all sick of. So unless you can make a better argument pipe down. Let Anderson and the team handle the talking.
I often wonder myself why it always seems to be BYU fans slamming everything Ute and Aggie, which is why I really don't like BYU BUT then I read bone headed comments like yours and understand where some of that comes from.
Zip it.
Go Ags!!!
I root for USU except when they play BYU. But it is fans like, For you Yinners, that will make me hate them like I hate the yoots. I wish the USU team well but for the sake of "For you Yinners" I hope we crush you into the unstable stadium grass.
Go Cougs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Soon to be 6-6, but who's counting?
I read all the comments to this article, and didn't see a single example of a coug "whinig". You have become so convinced that's all they do that you see it even when it isn't there. And your allegiance causes you to get one thing backwards: being at Utah didn't make Anderson a great coach. Being a great coach is the reason first Utah and then Utah State wanted him. His team may or may not be overmatched on Friday (unlikely they will win by 21), but they will play hard and smart, and they will continue to improve as the season progresses. I wish them only the best, in every game except the one where they play the Cougars. I feel the same way about the Yewts, in spite of "fans" like you.
"USU football is a lot like the basketball program has been in Provo."
Let's see, the last time that the Utah State football team won their conference championship and went to a bowl game (not quite the same, but similar to the BYU basketball team winning their conference championship and going to the NCAA tournament) was:
USU in football: 1961
BYU in basketball: 2008
Yes, any objective fan could plainly see the similarities.
Anderson was 1-2 vs BYU the last three years and even Gary will admit that he doesn't have even close to the talent now that he had for that lone Utah win.
who cares about Anderson being 1-2 over the last three years? One could just as easily say he is 1-0 over the last year, or 2-2 over the last 4 years, or 3-2 during his last 2004-2008 stint at the U.
"You saw the way they played against Utah. That's the best Utah State has played against Utah in a long time. He's put that confidence and fire in them."
In a long time? Yeah, you have to go all the way back to the 2007 season to see that utah beat them 34-18 which is WAY different than this year's score of 35-17.
The aggies are still the same old aggies and will get the same old pasting from BYU on Friday.
"They're building right now. I don't think they are where they're going to be in the future," Clawson said. "With him as their coach, they're going to keep progressing and keep getting better and better each week and each year. They're definitely on the rise."
If you go back to when Brent Guy became their HC you will find the same stuff was said about him too.
This will be a much better game than most fans believe...I don't see a blow-out, it should be a close game. Coach Anderson has done a great job in Logan, I just hope the school can hold on to him as I believe other schools will come calling for his services in he very near future.
Wow. I've been away from the state of Utah for a while -- had no idea the animosity toward BYU from aggies had gotten this out of hand. Seems to be a recurring "holier than thou" complaint. I recently read that USU has more RMs on their roster than BYU -- is this a "hey look, we're holy, too" issue? Weird -- I don't get it.
Yes Ute Fan - it's clear Anderson "Dominated BYU for a Decade" by his 6-5 record against BYU. By that reasoning, I guess I should just resign to the fact that the Yewts will dominate the MWC with a 6-5 record this year. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha....
ALL fans in the state of Utah are bandwagon fans. That's why the "RES" is seeing record numbers this year and last. All the bandwagon locals conveniently sent their BYU gear to the DI and picked up a U sweater at FANZZ. When Utah sees some hard times then all the bandwagoners will do the reverse.
It is so funny to read these posts. Just change ute to cougar and viseversa in each post and you will see you are exactly the same people just wearing a different color sweater. The insults are all the same tired comments we have heard for years.
