He did fine | 2:45 a.m. Sept. 27, 2009
Logan has some things to work on but he's had a good outing at BYU so far. He can tackle, and he definitely has a nose for the ball. A lot of the Rams success throwing the ball was the fact that we had trouble getting to the QB, again. That was due to CSU's good O-line play. That was their stregnth coming in, and it showed. So no the coverage wasn't perfect, but compared to last year it was actually pretty good. Most of the time he's right there with his guys, but yes he does get beat a couple of times, like every corner does occassionally. How often did speedster Brice McCain get burned?
SJ Bobkins | 4:28 a.m. Sept. 27, 2009
Brian's playing afraid, he has to get some confidence to allow himself to be ball conscious, and to stay in his zone regardless of what the receiver might do. I think he should be splitting time until he develops some consistency. Take a look at the numbers of DB's on the team, it's a bunch. Craig Bills will be one of the schools best, maybe this is a spot he can share with Logan. Max has to end the ints, BYU has to stop the pass. You can't win week in and week out yet give up 400 yards passing.

I love the effort Logan gives out on the field every game but his height disadvantage is going to comeback and haunt BYU down the road. I thought Lee Aguirre was the top JC corner the Cougs recruited? How about using him in the redzone he is only 5'9 but that 3 inches could make a difference.

It's great to see this 5-6 player lay the wood on opposing players ten inches taller than him and Logan is an outstanding open field tackler. He's also quick enough to stay in every play, but I'd like to see him turn his head around and make a play on the ball so he can avoid all these PI's. The PI's are frustrating, but the corner play for BYU on the whole is much better than last year. Teams will continue to pick on Logan and these PIs will stack up if he doesn't turn his head around when the ball is coming.

I like this guy. He plays hard. And he tackles well. As for finding the ball, that will come.
Why?? | 9:58 a.m. Sept. 27, 2009
Who in their right mind has a 5 foot 6 inch cornerback in Division 1 football??? Get someone taller!!!
He Will Be Very Good | 10:02 a.m. Sept. 27, 2009
Logan already closes on the receiver faster than any db in recent memory and hits like a safety. Improved technique in man coverage will make up for his lack of height. I predict by the end of the season he will be the total package and will have an outstanding senior season. Bradley is much taller and is a very solid db but he doesn't do THAT much better than Logan in man to man. They both are solid. Remember that our defense is not designed to limit overall yards - just to keep points reasonable.

The real problem is that our defensive line is not getting to the QB. Our pass rush is almost exclusively linebacker driven. Clawson, Pendleton and Grant Nelson are getting good heat on the QB and all three are much faster and more athletic than average for their position. But it would help the defense across the board if our d-line could pressure the QB consistently. Until he proves otherwise I think it is safe to say Jan Jorgensen had a solid sophmore season and since has been simply okay. Maybe So'to should split reps with him at this point.

Cougs, Cougs, Cougs... Logan is exactly why your defense is bad. Teams always fins BYUs weaknesses and exploit them. Logan is short and slow. He does not cover well. Look at the evidence. 23 of the 30 completed passes by the Col st. QB were to Logan's receiver. On average he was 5 steps behind the receiver. Not good coverage. He can hit, but so can Scott Johnson. Making a few good plays does not mean he is ok. He is bad and thank goodness a Coug. If he were at Utah, he'd be the waterboy. short waterboy.

They argue on CB, but never present facts. Now you have your facts.
Good Point... | 1:13 p.m. Sept. 27, 2009
Who has a 5'6 db in D 1 football ? BYU does, and he either has to look back for the ball when he covers or BYU will see a long day of yellow hankies being thrown this 09 season. All three P.I. calls on Logan were a direct result of his not getting around at all to find the ball before he had to make a play on the receiver. Lets teach some basic pass cover techniques BYU D.B. coaches and this problem should take care of it's self. Now the 5'6 issue is another problem altogether, um really no body in the world of JUCOs or transfers or high school players anywhere that would like to play for BYU taller then that ? I think with a little bit more effort coaches you can find a couple of kids that would love the opportunity...Work Hard Logan and you can improve, take what you got and make it perfect...Go Cougars.

I watched the game. CSU went at Logan "big time". In the end, the kid made enough plays to get the win but, his coverage was soft for most of the game. People love to point out the obvious like noting Logan's height. I don't know that is the reason why CSU went at him or the fact that he was playing to soft of coverage. The kid tackles realy well and he was there on the plays he comitted interference. I don't know that he needed to interfere to stop the reciever from catching the ball. I think BYU has other things to worry about. They are getting no pressure on the quaterback. Somehow someway BYU needs to get better up front. They either need to blitz someone every down or bring in a fourth defensive lineman. Just a thought !

my dear dear Ute fan...
The facts are that BYU beat the 3-0Rams 42-23.

Then you think to yourself, "Yeah but the rams haven't played anyone yet". Well neither has Utah. I can't wait till they play a good team.

one last fact...
BYU ranked ahead of U. If we go by facts, I guess BYU is a better team. right?

Keep you facts to yourself...
Bottom Line | 9:25 p.m. Sept. 27, 2009
Logan does a solid job covering guys. I like his speed and attitude. Coach and Logan have it right about technique. If this guy turns his head around on a couple of balls he has a terrific day. I think the future is bright for this kid as long as he doesn't lose his confidence. Frankly, I think there are many other guys on the squad that could be equally as exposed if teh other team threw at them.
Logan's Corner | 9:04 a.m. Sept. 28, 2009
It is a really simple concept: when you're covering a receiver and he has his eyes on the ball and is starting to raise his hands up to await the arrival of said ball, THAT is the time to look at the ball yourself and make a play on it - deflection or interception. Logan has the speed and is usually in good position, he just never looks for the ball, even when the receiver is clearly waiting for it to arrive. Logan has made some great plays in the three wins this year and with a little technique adjustment he could be a great corner, height or not. Darrell Green wasn't much bigger but had impeccable timing and speed. Logan can be like that if he wants it badly enough.
Re: UteFan | 9:30 a.m. Sept. 28, 2009
Logan isn't slow. His coverage wasn't soft. 5 steps behind the receiver? What game did you watch? He hit the receiver right after he caught the ball most every time. He certainly doesn't finish plays well, but he has decent coverage. I'm not arguing that he is good, I wish they would have subbed him out to personally, but take the goggles off. Also, how did you watch so much of the BYU game, didn't the Utah game start just before halftime of the BYU game? Shouldn't a Ute Fan have been watching that instead? Are you a Utah fan or an anti-BYU fan?

fan was watching a ute game! Probably the one they lost.
BlueBlood | 4:03 p.m. Sept. 28, 2009
What happened to Robbie Buckner? I have heard that his hamstring pull is healed now, and yet he stands on the side lines ready and prepared. He has the speed, height, and technique. He can't get a look.
UteFan | 6:18 p.m. Sept. 28, 2009
Cougar losers... look at the film. The receiver catches the ball without Logan even in the picture. Then he enters and you can count 5 steps before he makes contact or attempts top make contact with the receiver. He is at least 5 steps behind the receiver on average. Fact. You cannot argue with facts. take your blue goggles off and accept fact as truth. I bet your the losers that complain on CB all day. "Logan is the best we have ever has!" says coug fan. Sucks for you.

I love your obsession with BYU, why don't you just come on over and be a fan? You obviously follow BYU football closer than most BYU fans. With that kind of devotion, just come on over dude and acknowledge your obsession. You are the one with the lbue goggles on friend...you can't help yourself from commenting on anything BYU.

By the way, what are your mighty Utes ranked right now?

BYU's Brian Logan, right, and teammate Brandon Bradley celebrate a good defensive play against Colorado State on Saturday. Logan had some great plays and some not-so-great plays against the Rams.
