It's a tad bit embarrassing when you have to step down, not one class of athletics but two NCAA divisions, in order to get a rare win for homecoming. I'd have more respect for USU if they stopped the body bag games against a team they have no chance of beating, Texas A&M, Arkansas, etc......... or in playing a team with such limited resourses as SUU to rack up their first win.
In this first season under Anderson, wouldn't it be important to establish some credibilty by playing teams who will play you home and home, and avioding the lower divisions. Doing so, even if you lose but play well you have something to hang your hat on. Beat SUU, and you've beaten a team no one has ever heard of outside the state.

Dallas Aggie

SJ Bobkins: My goodness, you need to check your facts. SUU is a FCS school. That means they can compete for the national championship in the FCS. Just last week a ton of FBS teams were beat by FCS schools. That is all I will say in response to your comment above.

Congrats to the SUU team. I thought they played with great intensity and did much better than expected. They were extremely creative, but I was surprised they benched their starting QB in the second half.

Great job Aggies on the win today! I was at the game in College Station and have finally recovered my voice after cheering you guys on down there! It was awesome, and I am glad that the first win came today. Great job! Go Aggies!

re: SJ Bobkins

Ok, what exactly do you want? First you say that it's embarassing to beat a lower division team. Then you go on saying that you would only respect them if they don't play teams they "have no chance of beating." (although they took Texas A&M to the last possession.) In this first season under Anderson, he had little to do with the scheduling. We already had the schedule set before he even came. I've heard we're scheduled to play Oklahoma next year, and Auburn the next. Some people will never be satisfied.

Not only is SUU an FCS school, but it is a counter school for Div. I teams because it offers enough scholarships. This means USU only needs five more wins to qualify for a bowl game. In the past SUU's game didn't count as such.

SJ-

Take a look at the process and not one game. There are nine games left this season against very worthy opponents. Try to move around the tree that's in front of you and look at the forest. Coach A has a plan that works in conjunction with the overall program AD Barnes has developed. The Aggies are moving in the right direction. Get on board and support this team.

Re: SJ Bobkins

SUU is an FCS school, the same as Weber State (whom the U plays on a regular basis), the same as Jacksonville State -- the team that nearly beat Florida State on the road right before the 'Noles humiliated the zoobs in Provo, the same as Appalachian State -- the team that went into the Big House and shocked the Michigan Wolverines 2 years ago. It is the same division (then 1-AA) that gave us Boise State about a decade back.

Perhaps you should do a little research prior to posting without any validity.

Trolls

Don't feed 'em - they've got nothing of value to say.

BTW, when USU beats BYU this next weekend, then the trolls will be saying, "BYU lost the game", not "USU beat BYU" - sigh. poor, poor sad byu

Thanks Jared Eborn/Ravell Call!

For the wonderful coverage of USU sports. It has been getting better all the time and it's nice to see some great photos and stories. It helps to know that there is another BLUE team in the state (that has never changed its colors) that originally put Utah on the map in the sports world, especially on the football front, not to mention track & field, woman's softball, etc.

To SJ Bobkins...

Teams we'll never win? We almost beat Texas A & M, and had a decent game at Utah. We have a decently tough schedule this year!

Last year USU was the first team to really upset BYU's play. Although USU lost, they almost shut down BYU for a half, leaving them visibly shaken and they never recovered that season (3 losses after that).

Go Aggies!

SJ Bobkins

pops up often. Still waiting for him to say anything that might be intelligent.
