Sister Dottie is a brilliant symbol of what makes Utah such a wonderful place - even when our cultures are coexisting a little awkwardly, there is always the hope that we can turn that discomfort into opportunities for learning and loving. The gay-Mormon divide has gotten out of control, and Sister Dottie shows us that both sides - we gays included! - have a long way to go toward being more loving and understanding. Being touched and moved while also laughing hysterically is a rare thing - thanks for this gift, Dottie!
Dottie takes what often is an abstraction in many people's minds whether it's the LGBT experience or the Mormon experience and makes it real, while emphasizing that when we love one another it conquers all. And it is the only position that needs no defense.
