Jags Fan

Oh Boy....I thought we were good. Wish we could play those first 4 games over and over. Wonder if we could add Juab to our schedule next year.

Trophy for Sure Next Year

Next Year we are going to play just four games and then end the season. Jimmy's uncle has that trophy shop and we can get him to make us a State Championship Trophy. Go Jags!

That Stuff Hurts

Playing on the Turf at the U is overrated anyway. Last year the amazing WJ band played on it and Shane the big tuba player fell down on the turf and said it is really hard and scratchy.

Young WJ Fan

When I grow up I want to be a QB for the Jags. The guy we have now is fantastic. He is so good, he can even complete passes to the other team. Like 3-4 times a game. It's a big dream but I am working on it everyday.

Cougar fan

looks like another Coug-Jag showdown for that 3rd and final playoff spot! May the best team win!

Utah Fan

Wow you WJ fans really are flaky, your team loses 2 games and all of a sudden its were horrible, and oh man i thought we were good whiny stuff. You guys lost to Pleasant Grove who is way good and a tough Riverton team, grow up a little seriously the season isnt over.

At least we look good

Those are probably the nicest uniforms I've seen WJ wear in a long time. Probably ever.

Riverton

RHS defense played well last night and the offense did what they needed by staying balanced and scoring at crucial times. I thought Jentz Painter had the best defensive game of the year....he was all over the field making tackles, blocking FG's, and breaking up passes. His speed paid off big time in this game. He totally shut down his side of the field. Great game Jentz.

Disappointed with WJ

To West Jordan athletes and fans:
When the Star-Spangled Banner is being played and the entire crowd (other than the WJ players and students lined up on the field)has their hands on their hearts watching the flag. Do not run on the field with your big WJ flags, do your cheers, and allow the students lined up on the field to yell and cheer and pay no attention to their country's national anthem. I was very disappointed with the disrespect showcased by WJ during the Star-Spangled Banner. I hope WJ recognizes this mistake and does something to fix it from happening again. But when the national anthem is playing and the team is on the 50-yard line doing some sort of pre-game chant, it makes the school and the program look undisciplined and immature.

What I heard

I hear that Duchesne and Altamont have openings on their pre-season schedule next year...Better jump on that right away Coach Morgan!

Re:Utah Fan

We're not all flaky fans. WJ is a good team that should've won last night. They made some big mistakes that were too much to overcome. Hopefully they learn from their mistakes and get better. I don't see them finishing worse than 3rd in the Region.

From the sidelines ...

... I was also extremely impressed with the play of Riverton's #11, Jentz Painter. IMO he won the game for Riverton by consistently shutting down much of WJ's short passing game with ferocious tackles.

Should've won?

I have never been to a Region 3 game and was told that this would be a good one. So, to whomever said that West Jordan should've won last night....Whatever, West Jordan was beaten up and down the field last night. The only good thing going for them was their defensive line which put a lot of pressure on a good Riverton offense. When Riverton had to move the ball they made big 3rd down plays and scored in a dominant fashion. Riverton dropped a for sure touchdown pass and the referees made a bad call on another should've-been Riverton TD pass as #21 was "pushed out of bounds." As for West Jordan's offense, their receivers simply could not get open and when they did the West Jordan QB made bad throws. I saw Riverton players making so many big hits and big plays on defense that that became the exciting part of the game to watch. A lot of West Jordan players took some big hits. #11, #45, and #26 were making big hits all game. West Jordan got owned.

Pleased with balance

Congrats to Coach Miller and the boys. This year has been a lot different from years' past. It seems as Riverton finally has the talent to have a balanced offense and I think it will serve them well as the season gets into the crucial October weeks. Watching this team is exciting. They make big plays on both sides of the ball and they are playing well as a team.

Schedule

I think Coach Morgan or whomever is doing the scheduling for WJ is doing a good job. With teams like Bingham and Riverton in your region, you want to schedule some "softer" opponents to get the offense clicking and morale high. Imagine if WJ went out and scheduled Alta, Timpview, etc. The WJ morale would be low.

But I think WJ had a good balance in pre-season, they had their easy wins, but then scheduled one of the best teams in the state in PG to prepare them for region. It IS smart scheduling if you ask me.

WJ is 1-1 in the region, I predict they lose to Bingham, but win the rest of their region games. That gets them a playoff spot and despite the past two weeks, I think with this offense they could pull a huge upset in the first round

Bingham

It makes sense for Bingham to schedule the toughest teams in pre-season, because they know they're going to walk all over eveyone in region.

It does NOT make sense for WJ to schedule the toughest teams, because they usually get walked on in region. So why not get some wins under your belt before region, to give the kids some great momments?

Thus I agree with the previous comment, that WJ is scheduling just fine.

To Should've Won

Your're kidding right.WJ moved the ball most of the night. They just shot themselves in the foot. Throwing deep into coverage lead to most of the turn overs. If they would have looking at more crossing routes they would have shredded us easy. Plus they have no running game WJ is a one dimensional offesne. Next week Alta will shred us. Thats just the facts nothing mean sprited. We will go 1-2 and finish at 5-4 not that impressive. We will more than likely lose in the first round. If we don't then the year will be deemed a success. The goal for this year was not to be a contender just to get huds boys playing time at varsity. The real goal is to make a push next year when their all seniors. We will return almost all of the offensive players 4 or 5 on D with alot of the youger kids are getting playing time. The satff is just looking to put the pieces in place for next season The split will not effect us as the core of the team will remain intact. State is ours in 2011 right coach.

Football Fanatic

I was at that game last night and WJ just got outcoached plain and simple. We saw the same unsuccessful screen play run 20 times, And when it wasnt screen plays, they were trying to beat Riverton deep. Horrible play calling. Its unfortunate because the players are being setup to fail by the playcaller. Hopefully this coaching staff can see what THEY did wrong, not what the players did wrong. Its hard for players to play with the right intensity level when they plays are unsuccessful 90% of the time.

Riverton

Typical... Always next year. Next year when they have all those seniors, they may make the semis or even the final, but Bingham will Destroy everyone next year, so if 2nd in Region 3 and maybe a quarterfinals game or even a semi final game is your goal, good luck NEXT year.

All the good little league kids will be at Herriman, so in 2011, Riverton will still be little brother, only with 2 big brothers in Bingham and Herriman.

re:re: utah fan

i completely agree with you, as the brother of a player their hopes and expectations have not changed at all at WJ. they lost to the best team in the state in PG and a good riverton team that granted they should of beat, but we dont need to start cutting down coach morgan and the team. they are 4 and 2! its not the end of the world! and its not time to pack up and move to bingham like everyone else, stay and back up your team win or lose!
