After numerous commissions and investigations with the same results, did we expect anything less?
This is why we now need the people's initiative to regulate the legislators and campaigns in Utah. It has been a fruitless and costly expense to taxpayers to let the legislators determine the fate of this issue they do now wish to impose upon themselves. They stand to lose millions of dollars and it is a great motivational reason not to regulate themselves.
We now must turn to this new initiative by the people to impose morals and ethics on our elected officials, they can't do it themselves.
The founding fathers had the solution for this, they protected the 4th Estate (the media) and made the politicians report back to us from time to time.
Lazy mudslingers and armchair politicians want ethics reform. I, on the other hand, prefer to accept my responsibility to keep up on my representatives and cast my vote and donate my money to someone else if I ever see a problem.
The governor's panel needs to check their premises and stop not trusting us voters to keep our officials ethical! Don't take away my right to donate, Gary!
