I need to correct the author. The location of the Golden Spike site is at Promontory, Utah. The other location, known as Promontory Point, is a peninsula that extends into the Great Salt Lake and the transcontinental railroad site is not anywhere near that area.

Have you taken Amtrak lately? The station is a horrible two room building at the transportation hub on 340 South Sixth West. The Rio Grande Depot is used no more.
