You played tough Utes and showed some heart, way to not embarras the mountain west and the state of utah. (Ahem... zoobs) Oregon is a good team and it was a hard fought game. If that one is played at home (ha ha zoobs) it is a win.
Oregon a good team? They're horrible. We suspended their best player, and you still couldn't beat them.
Utah + Utes = Unranked
BSU = BCS
Man you are blind. The Utes looked horrible and thus embarrased the MWC and the state. That was a horrible performance and if continued will not even give the Utes a .500 season.
I like the Utes but c'mon, this has to change. And fans like you have to wake up and stop praising mediocrity. And stop bringing BYU into a Utah loss--they have nothing to do with this sub-par performance and you only show your immaturrity and 3rd-grade emotions towards another MWC school.
Let a rivalry be just that and not an excuse to hide behind bad football by our own team.
I agree. We don't need fans that complain more about BYU than focus on our own team. We don't need you. Go south and spend your Saturdays booing at BYU games instead of cheering on our team. You are the true embarrasment to the state of Utah.
Yes, Utah lost and BYU lost. We are still cheering on BSU and TCU to help keep up what respect we do have from the BCS Bosses. We all need to stick togehter on this and not rip each other apart or be glad there was a loss. Yes, we do want out favorite team to win but lets wait until game time to do the ripping apart. Let the best team win and continue to support each other.Especially in Dec. and Jan. It will be your turn one season to be the BCS buster and maybe even play for the national title. You will want our support at that time.
Forever a UTE
If TCU loses a game, allowing Boise to go the the BCS with their pathetic schedule, Boise will simply have equaled what Utah has already done. Getting to the BCS twice.
Until that point you are simply living in our shadow.
You guys are bandwagon, unrealistic fans, bottom line. A team who had their QB playing his first real road game embarrassed themselves with a 7-point loss? A team who with a new QB, an injured RB, and WR's who just didn't make plays embarrassed themselves with a 7-point loss on the road?
You guys give Utah fans a bad name.
The loss was disappointing, because we had every chance in the world to get the win. But it was no sort of embarrassing. That is completely ridiculous.
Were you expecting another 13-0 season? Probably were weren't you. So unrealistic.
Cain looked overwhelmed. Asiata was not healthy, and wanted nothing to do with contact. The WR's had many dropped balls, and just didn't make any plays.
And having said that, Utah had an opportunity to get a TD before half, had Brooks running wide open at the 3 for a TD but the pass was underthrown, and had Brooks open on the last INT but the ball was underthrown.
Reality is Utah played poorly, and still had chances to win a game at Oregon. How can that be considered "embarrassing?"
Proud of the way our team played. Glad that we can move past all of the exhausting hype and just enjoy some good football with a dog and a coke. Ute fans - get away from the ledge, enjoy this team and the heart they show, and appreciate some dang good football that's being played.
Three games is enough. Cain has shown that he is definitely not the quarterback that we need. Let's replace him with Jordan Wynn.
Watched the game. Utah looked pretty bad. Offense was bad, but the real problem was the defense. All they had to do was key in on Oregon's QB and they pull out a win. He was pretty much the Ducks' offense. I would say it shows a team that has a long way to go to return to the level of last year. All facets of the game need work, including the kicking game, as the run back proves.
What a thrill it was to watch this battle.I hope we play this great against the cougettes.
The big picture is still in place. The Utes will have another winning season, go to a bowl game, and continue the bowl winning streak - still the longest in the NCAA.
Utes will improve over time, and that's what they do every year because they have great coaches. The biggest weakness I saw in the Oregon games was the offensive play calling. I'm not keen on the idea of a strictly no huddle for a new QB. I think the Utes would be well served to let the QB learn the system and implement the full no-huddle scheme only at the end of the season or early next year.
However, next year the Utes will have huge expectations as they will be poised for another BCS birth. Until then, lets keep on supporting this great team who will still have some big successes this year. Watching BYU, it looks like our only loss in the MWC will be to TCU.
The Utes did play poorly against a decent opponent [now in in the top 30] and on the road - they couldn't find consistency, didn't finish drives, made mistakes, etc. Some of the folks I watched the game with were so negative. Give these guys a chance. Cain will be as good or better than Johnson. Asiata will be back. The receivers can and will focus. The lines will block and tackle. This Saturday should be a great college game and these players [and coaches] have a great opportunity to show what they're made of this year. The Utes can still go 11 - 1 and that should be everyone's hope and expectation until someone proves that wrong.
My prediction was wrong so I'm here to apologize. I predicted around 20,000 ute fans would jump off the bandwagon and come to BYU's side after the weekend. But since BYU also lost it was only 10,000 ute fans that switched allegiance since BYU is still ranked and utah is not. Again, I apologize for the innaccuracy.
If you watched the game, then you didn't realize that Utah shut down Masoli, Oregon's QB, overall. Here are his stats for the game: 4-16 passing for 95 yards, 0 touchdowns, 1 interception. Rushed 12 times for 47 yards and 2 touchdowns. 26 of his rushing yards were on 2 carries (both TD runs), so putting those aside, he rushed 10 times for 21 yards for a measly 2.1 average most of the game. The man who was REALLY giving us trouble was the Ducks' running back, LaMichael James, who rushed 27 times for 152 yards and a TD.
Still, Oregon suffered 3 fumbles lost, and threw a pick. Utah fumbled twice but recovered both, and Cain threw 2 picks. So the turnovers aren't really the factor. Both teams were pretty even, the big plays made the difference. So don't go jumping off the bandwagon just yet, it's one loss. Cain should rebound well, Asiata will heal, and we'll have better games ahead.
Hahahahahahahaha.
That ship which was BYU's National Title Hope sunk faster than the Detroit Lions Super Bowl chances!
BYU once again showed that even with all of the stars aligned (Senior QB, top 10 ranking, home field, etc.) they couldn't live up to the hype. They have simply failed again to accomplish what Utah has already done, TWICE.
Until that last quarter, we looked ATROCIOUS! Our defense is stellar and will keep us in games, but our offense is dead. This is a game we'll look back on and think we should have won because Oregon is NOT a good football team. They are middle of the road Pac-10 team at best. We really need to step it up if we are going to finish the year with anything less than 3 losses.
Cain will be great, he has to learn the offense and trust himself. It hurt to lose, especialy when Oregon tried to hand us the game. I do not worry about Utah, the coaches will adjust and we will be fine. Now as for anonymous, losing by a TD is not embarrasing, what happend in Provo on saturday on the other hand is!!!! BYU was handed a golden nugget ( good ranking after beating a decent sooner team, USC loss, all they had to do is beat FSU and they are top 4 with possibility of playing in a BCS possibly NC game.) and of course like always they choked on said golden nugget. It was trajic, I was hoping they would win, but in the end I should have known better. Therefore Utah's 7 point loss while upsetting is no where near embarassing, look to provo for that definintion!
It was great to hear the tomahawk chop in Lavell Edwards Stadium. Maybe the MUSS and the band can work out the "Redhawk Chop" for our trip down south.
If the Utes ever want to be taken seriously on a national level they can't lose to mediocre teams like Oregon. The Ducks are not a good team. They are middle of the Pac 10 at best. Utah should be embarrassed by its performance. Are you kidding me? Special teams were horrible. Asiata was afraid to get hit. Cain can't throw the ball deep. Receivers dropping balls. Bad coaching decisions. 11-1? Get a clue. The Utes will be lucky to go 8-4 or 7-5. At least they will get a bowl bid. How does Boise sound in December? Or the New Mexico Bowl? Look on the bright side, at least they have great Mexican food in Albuquerque.
