Matt Holland may be very capable at this job, but please don't insult us by saying he has experience. And please don't equate running the American Heritage program at a private university as necessary experience for running a large public university. Again, call it for what it is. He got the job because of his family name, no more no less.

Without intending to the article made it clear that Matt Holland's "experience" is his experience being the son of Jeff Holland. But he is bright and hard-working. Even with his lack of experience, he'll probably do a good job.

Matt Holland is in over his head and he knows it. He got the job because of the "aura" surrounding his religious connections, but he is surrounded by intelligent, experienced people who will (and already have) prop him up and make him look much better than he really is.

Matthew Holland is the type of real intellectual Utah Valley University needs to give it intellectual credibility.
Personally, I think that his attackers are just mad because there is a believing Mormon at the head of the school. If the other lead candidate, Kim Cameron, had been appointed, we would not hear the end of "Mormons are too into business" and so on.
Maybe this explains why the hate towards Matt is so vicious. He is a true intellectual, who is also a believing Mormon, something that the haters dedicate most of their time to proving does not exist.
