interesting how many utah fans have been posting on sites about how pathetic byu is. they might want to stop by here and write that same word. pathetic in last week's win and today's loss. bad day for beehive state but we'll all bounce back.

Wow... Utes lose a game and the world stops! Reality is: One game @ a time. What did we learn this weekend? One game does not make a season, just ask BYU. The next winning streak starts next week against Louisville. The Utes are good, working on great and will finish Fabulous. So until next week and the week after and the next...GO UTES!!!

I don't think it's a matter of catching breaks or not- this years team just hasn't meshed yet. Hopefully they will take their licks and learn from it this year and work towards next year. :)

I think most of us with our heads in reality knew this was not going to be another storytale year after seeing those first two games. What can you do.

Funny, on the BYU articles there are hundreds of Newt fans, aka BYU-haters, commenting about BYU's loss, but here, not a comment knocking the Utes.
I won't change that. Good game Utah, sad day for the MWC. The BCS won a big point today.
I do want to knock the fans, I mean the haters. That it is so popular to knock the Y and talk smack about the Cougars in the name of the University of Utah.
Get a life and get a team to cheer for. Your hatred has nothing to do with Utah or football, it is just blind hatred.

utes to go 6-5

This loss is a big hit to the program. A big part of that is that the game was ESPN. Opportunities to play well and continue to grab national interest on a major network stage are few and far between. Recruiting is at stake more extensively on the national stage. Pollsters pay more attention. And the money machine that is ESPN will give more attention. As for the last point, the game was replayed after sportscenter (midnight). Last weeks lackluster play in Northern California didn't help either, since many interested (possible) recruits from the region traveled to see the Utes play. California and Texas games are huge. The bloody Mountain came along, and the nation has to have the MWC teams force attention upon themselves now (do something special). The Sugar Bowl win last year did a ton for the program, but there was not much coverage throughout the year from a national perspective. In 2004 however, the Utes had press the whole year (it's true). Starting with A&M in week 1. BCS buster talk was promoted on ESPN that early. Before 2004, no BCS buster existed. College Game Day came to Rice Eccles (BYU game).

Neither team should accept ane kudos over this one...it is undoubtably the sloppiest football game in recent memory. Who ever said that Cain was a quarter back? Someone was dreaming-- perhaps we should see if Nevada has a QB that they could spare.

Jordan Wynn could have thrown the deep ball without it being intercepted. Let him play!

Great comment from Yup about the Y haters and U haters (it goes both ways here). Too bad they just can't sit back and enjoy the ride of watching college football at its best. Let's be realistic, no one in the MWC will go undefeated this year. Too bad a lot of these so called fans can't enjoy the games without being mean spirited. Deep down they probably have deeper issues that need attention!

Where are all the Utah haters? Truth is, most BYU fans are either too nice to bash the U or they just don't care all that much.

Sad day for the MWC, though.

byu will never pull a utah and make the bcs or have gameday on campus

Sounds like the Utes should just drop football. I mean they lost for the first time since November 2007. They should just quit, what's the point of even showing up next Saturday.

Why is it that the media in Salt Lake begins byu's BCS and National Championship campaign after one win? Why is it that when Utah beat a top 25 Michigan team in the Big House last year, the same media still claimed Utah wasn't very good because Michigan came back and made it a game?
I would love to see a tiny bit of objectivity, just once from these guys.
It'll never happen though.
Ute... Evan in the afterlife. | 3:26 p.m. Sept. 20, 2009
This is for the fans on both sides of the red and blue fence. I am a die hard Ute fan and will be forever. I love mixing it up with the BYU fans just as much if not more then most Ute fans but lets all have a reality check. Utah needs BYU and vice-versa. We are all MWC. Let the greatest rivelry ever take place in November when we meet in Provo. Right now our biggest enemy is the BCS. Both teams unfortunate losses have once agian led many feeling like the MWC can't hang. One comment made was "evan a blind squirrel can find a nut once in awhile". Let's leave the rivelry for rivelry week and focus on supporting all MCW teams so we can all get over these fricken BCS hurdals.

Excuse the spelling errors, I,m on the tail end of a 18 hr shift.

you must win six to be considered for the emerald and humanitarian bowls. Oh, how the prideful fall!

When there were two seconds left in the half, they should have kicked a field goal.
No one seems to care | 6:34 p.m. Sept. 20, 2009
about the utes based on the comments. We Bronco fans just love the newly unranked utes.

But sorry we won't need to follow you anymore this year. By losing to a team we thumped you now have no way to argue about anything!

By the way, nice victory over lowly SJSU. You made the WAC look better!
FL UTE | 8:42 p.m. Sept. 20, 2009
Didn't see the game (out on Saturday with the BoyScouts), but a 13-0 season is a tough act to follow... every slip-up now is seen through the lens of the SugarBowl superUTES.

It does seem a little frustrating that KWhit seemed not so ticked about losing a sloppy game. Is the picture with the article of KWhit smiling taken before or after the game?

GOOO UTES!!!
My favorite teams are the UTES and whoever is playing the gators!

The Ute vs. Oregon game left many things unanswered:
1) will Cain ever be able to accurately throw over 18 yards?; 2) will the corners be able to cover deep without interference; 3) will the new coordinators grow into their jobs this year or not; will the players stop making costly mental errors, et cetera?
Little improvement from the first game of the year in my opinion. Should be quicker improvement shown or this year is going to be a real downer. If Wynn is truly close to Cain in ability, then how about seeing him in a game for a quarter sometime. It might be very interesting and possibly very rewarding.

Think it is now officially time to start Jordan Wynn.
O LINE | 3:49 p.m. Sept. 21, 2009
I remember when Asiata was the back up for Stowers until Stowers injury. He's all better now. The guy has more talent than all of them. He needs some play time. Hope to see that this weekend at the game. He's faster and in my opinion the man for the starter job. Hope OC calls a better offense with some plays we can get done. Cain or Wynn either one will work as long as the rest of the O line is doing there job blocking for him. (including the rb)
